The present invention is for providing a synthetic resin composition capable of effectively deodorizing amine malodor causing substances such as trimethyl amine. In a synthetic resin composition comprising an aqueous medium, a surfactant, and a polymer latex and a filler dispersed in the aqueous medium by the surfactant, a transitional metal supported silica gel having at least one selected from the group consisting of a transitional metal and a transitional metal compound supported by a silica gel and an activated carbon were used as the filler. Since the transitional metal or the transitional metal compound has an performs extremely well as a Lewis acid, it forms a complex with a Lewis base having an unpaired electron. That is, a malodor causing substance such as amines and ammonia having a nitrogen atom with an unpaired electron can be adsorbed efficiently.

Synthetic resin composition

A metal gasket for an internal combustion engine is formed of a main gasket portion extending substantially throughout an entire area to be sealed. The main gasket portion is formed of at least one metal plate and has at least one hole to be sealed. A bore ring is disposed inside the at least one hole of the main gasket portion. The bore ring has a top portion and a bottom portion longer than the top portion to provide rigidity of the bore ring. The gasket can be properly fitted with the engine parts while protecting a bead formed on the metal plate to securely seal around the hole.

Engine gaskets for automobiles are fabricated from an as-quenched stainless steel having a martensitic-ferritic duplex-phase phase structure in which martensite comprises from 40% to 80%. The steel has a composition comprising on a weight basis; C&plus;N: 0.1%-0.3%, Si: not greater than 0.5%, Mn: not greater than 0.7%, Cr: 10%-17%, and Ni: 0-0.6% and a Vickers hardness of from 300 to 500, The steel can be produced by quenching the steel after heating at 850-1000&deg; C.

A metal gasket is used for an internal combustion engine, preferably as a manifold gasket. The gasket is formed of a plurality of metal gasket sections, and at least one metal connecting section situated between two gasket sections adjacent to each other to connect the same. Each gasket section has a sealing hole to be sealed and a sealing device situated around the sealing hole. At least one through hole is formed in the connecting section. The through hole allows the connecting section to easily deform to absorb deformation of the gasket due to expansion and contraction of the engine. The gasket with the deformable connecting section can be easily and accurately formed.

A metal laminate gasket of the invention is formed of first and second metal plates and an annular plate. The first metal plate has a base portion, a curved portion extending from the base portion to define a first opening corresponding to a hole of the engine to be sealed, and a flange extending from the curved portion and situated over the base portion. The annular plate is situated between the flange and the base portion and has the width at least partly shorter than that of the flange. The second metal plate is situated over the first metal plate at a side where the flange is located. The hole has a width along the outer profile, and the width of the hole is greater than a distance between the hole and the outer profile. The gasket is formed of a plurality of metal plates to constitute a metal laminate gasket. Each metal plate includes a side edge extending at least along the outer profile of the engine, a gasket hole having a size substantially equal to that of the hole of the engine, and an elongated portion located between the side edge and the gasket hole. The metal plates are immovably fixed together at the elongated portions to prevent the elongated portions from deforming outwardly of the engine.

A steel laminate gasket of the present invention is installed between two engine parts having at least one fluid hole. The gasket comprises a first plate having at least one first hole, a second plate situated above the first plate and having at least one second hole, at least one third plate situated above the second plate and having at least one third hole, and a cover member for covering at least first and third holes. The size of the first hole is smaller than the fluid hole of the engine parts to restrict flow rate of fluid passing therethrough. The second plate is provided with a first sealing device situated around the fluid hole such that the first sealing device is sandwiched between the two engine parts. The size of the second hole is smaller than the first sealing device. The size of the third hole is substantially the same as that of the first hole. The third plate is provided with a stepped portion, which is located inside the first sealing device when the plates are assembled together.

A metal laminate gasket of the invention is installed in an internal combustion engine having at least one hole therein. The gasket comprises a first metal plate, and a second metal plate situated under the first metal plate. The first plate includes a first sealing device around a first hole to be sealed, and an inclined portion between the first sealing device and a base portion of the first plate. The upper surface of the base section is located in a level lower than the upper surface of the first sealing device. The second plate has a second hole larger than the first sealing device, and a second sealing device around the second hole. When the first and second plates are assembled, the second plate does not pile over the first sealing device. When the gasket is tightened, the second sealing device is at first compressed by tightening force and deforming force of the inclined portion to thereby equally tighten the second sealing device.

A clip of the invention is designed to attach a gasket to a gasket attaching portion of an engine part. The clip comprises a body, a projection formed at a first end portion of the body, and an engaging portion formed at a second end portion of the body. The projection extends substantially perpendicularly to the body, and the engaging portion extends in the same direction as in the projection. When the gasket is attached to the gasket attaching portion, the projection engages the gasket and the engaging portion engages the gasket attaching portion of the engine part. The gasket can be easily installed between the two engine parts.

A steel laminate gasket with a plate information device is situated between two engine parts to be sealed. The gasket comprises at least one first metal plate and at least one second metal plate. The first metal plate is provided with a notch or hole inside the plate, and the second plate is provided with a plate information sign at an area corresponding to the notch or hole. A steel laminate gasket of the invention is used for an internal combustion engine having at least one hole to be sealed. A metal plate of the invention is used for a metal gasket. The metal plate comprises a base plate, at least one first bead to surround an area to be sealed, and at least one second bead extending from the first bead. An intersecting portion is formed between the first and second beads. The intersecting portion is provided with a depression extending from a side of a non-high pressure area toward an inside of the intersecting portion to reduce the size of the intersecting portion. As a result, the intersecting portion of the first and second beads can provide surface pressure at least substantially equal to the rest of the portions of the first and second beads without affecting the sealing ability at a high pressure area when the beads are compressed.

A steel laminate gasket comprises a first plate having at least one first hole, a second plate situated adjacent to the first plate, and at least one depression formed either on the first plate or the second plate and extending toward the other. The second plate is provided with at least one second hole and a bead extending around the second hole. The bead extends substantially perpendicularly to a horizontal plate of the second plate toward the first plate to abut against the first plate. Height of the depression is substantially the same as or slightly less than that of the bead so that when the first and second plates are connected together by a spot welding at the depression, the first and second plates are maintained substantially parallel to each other.

The gasket comprises a first plate and at least one second plate situated adjacent to the first plate. The first plate is provided with at least one curved first bead situated adjacent to and at a predetermined distance away from a curved outer line corresponding to a part of a contour of a mouth plate situated above the gasket, a second bead situated adjacent to and at a predetermined distance away from an inner line corresponding to a part of a contour of a cylinder bore, and a plurality of third beads disposed at a predetermined distance away from each other. The second bead intercrosses the first bead. The third beads are arranged so that the third beads are in order situated away from the inner line and intercept the first bead.
