A high-sensitivity measuring instrument comprising at least two sensors for detecting the same characteristics by touching a substance being measured with a specified time difference, wherein the between detection signals taken out simultaneously from respective sensors is determined, the difference between characteristic values upon elapsing the specified time difference is determined from the difference between detection signals, a reference time of measurement and a reference characteristic value at that time are preset, a time axis having a time pitch of a specified time difference is set, and a measurement value is obtained at a point in time elapsing an arbitrary time pitch from the reference time. Objective measurement characteristics can be detected by the measuring instrument not in the form of difference or variation but as an absolute value with high accuracy and sensitivity.

High-sensitivity measuring instrument and method of using the instrument to measure a characteristic value at a point in time

A filter vessel is partitioned with a watertight partition to form a common upper filtrate collection compartment in the upper part of the filter vessel. A plurality of hollow fiber modules each having upper and lower filtrate outlet ports are vertically disposed in the filter vessel to communicate with the common upper filtrate collection compartment via the upper filtrate outlet ports thereof. The hollow fiber modules also communicate with a lower filtrate collection casing via the lower filtrate outlet ports thereof. At least one conduit is provided in the filter vessel to allow the lower filtrate collection casing to communicate therethrough with the common upper filtrate collection compartment. Feed water fed into the filter vessel is filtered through the walls of porous hollow fibers in the hollow fiber modules into the bores of the porous hollow fibers, through which the filtrate is conducted into the common upper filtrate collection compartment via the upper filtrate outlet ports of the hollow fiber modules as well as via the lower filtrate outlet ports of the hollow fiber modules, the lower filtrate collection casing and said at least one conduit. The filtrate collected in the common upper filtrate collection compartment is then discharged therefrom out of the filter column.

Filtration equipment

A filter vessel is partitioned into a first, second and third compartments with upper and lower watertight partitions. A plurality of hollow fiber modules each having upper and lower filtrate outlet ports are vertically disposed in the second compartment, and upward-detachably fixed in the filter vessel. Each hollow fiber module is watertightly joined with a lower water collection tube communicating with the third compartment by means of a jointing means capable of vertical elastic movement. Feed water fed into the second compartment is filtered through walls of porous hollow fibers in the hollow fiber modules into the bores of the porous hollow fibers, through which the filtrate is conducted into the first compartment via the upper filtrate outlet ports of the hollow fiber modules as well as into the third compartment via the lower filtrate outlet ports of the hollow fiber modules and lower water collection tubes joined with the respective hollow fiber modules. The filtrate collected in the first and third compartments is then discharged therefrom out of the filter column.

Filtration equipment for hollow fiber module

There is disclosed a process for scrubbing hollow fiber membranes in at least one hollow fiber membrane module disposed in a hollow fiber membrane filter column wherein the hollow fiber membrane module includes a large number of hollow fibers bundled together therein as the hollow fiber membranes. In the process, the filtration step of passing raw water through the pores of the hollow fibers from the outsides thereof to the insides thereof to thereby trap the fine particles on the outer surfaces of the hollow fibers is followed by the scrubbing step of charging bubbles into water around the outer surfaces of the hollow fibers to agitate the water to vibrate the hollow fibers, thereby exfoliating the fine particles trapped on the outer surfaces of the hollow fibers. This scrubbing is effected either in such a two stage manner that relatively coarse, hard, fine particles exfoliated in the initial stage of the scrubbing step is removed, followed by second-stage scrubbing, or by carrying out the scrubbing step while simultaneously removing the relatively coarse, hard, fine particles exfoliated in the initial stage of the scrubbing step. The scrubbing step is followed by the drain step of draining the resulting waste water out of the system.

Process for scrubbing porous hollow fiber membranes in hollow fiber

There is disclosed a filtration process using at least one hollow fiber membrane module including a large number of porous hollow fibers bundled therein. In the process, the filtration step of passing raw water containing fine particles through the pores of the hollow fibers from the outsides thereof to the insides thereof to thereby trap the fine particles on the outer surfaces of the hollow fibers is followed by the cooling step of lowering the temperature of water inside the hollow fiber membrane module to cool the hollow fibers before the scrubbing step of charging bubbles into water around the outer surfaces of the hollow fibers to vibrate the hollow fibers to thereby exfoliate the fine particles trapped on the outer surfaces of the hollow fibers. The scrubbing step is followed by the drain step of draining the resulting waste water out of the system.
