A primer composition for a fluororesin comprises a heat resistant resin, a fluororesin and a coupling agent, or a fluororesin and a silicone-modified polyimide, or a fluorine-containing polyimide resin. On the surface of a substrate, a primer layer is formed using any of these primer compositions for a fluororesin, and a fluororesin layer is formed via this primer layer, to produce a fixing member.

The present invention provides a non-contact ink developing method for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an electrostatic latent image formation member with ink, characterized by employing a conductive ink as the ink and a conductive developing roller disposed close to the electrostatic latent image formation member and whose surface has a water-repellent finish for producing very small ink droplets which are substantially spherical. The method comprising the steps of supplying the conductive ink to the surface of the conductive roller to produce a large number of very small ink droplets, and ejecting the ink droplets toward the electrostatic latent image in a developing area facing the electrostatic latent image formation member by an electrostatic induction force generated by charges of the electrostatic latent image and charges of opposite polarity induced in the ink droplets by the electrostatic latent image, and attaching the droplets to the electrostatic latent image.

An electrophotographic transfer film is provided for use in an electrophotographic process in which a charged toner is adsorbed by an electrostatic latent image retaining unit and then transferred to a transfer film, in which a transparent resin layer which exhibits a compatibility with the binding resin for the toner to be fixed at the toner fixing temperature and a lower apparent melt viscosity than the toner biding resin at the toner fixing temperature is provided on at least one side of a plastic film having a heat resisting temperature of 100.degree. A sheet straightening unit including a device for pushing a depressing roll against an endless belt, so that a curled sheet is straightened when passing between the endless belt and the depressing roll pushed against the latter. The depressing roll is provided with an amount-of-depression adjusting mechanism which includes a cam member and a cam follower member engaged with the former, in such a manner that the cam member is turned according to the kind and image density of the curled sheet, thereby to most suitably determine the extent to which depressing roll is pushed against the endless belt.

A method for fixing a full color toner image by inserting a transfer medium to which a toner image is transferred, between a pair of rolls of a fixing apparatus, and pressing the medium therebetween, wherein the toner image is formed of a full color toner prepared by dispersing a colorant into a polyester resin containing a diol component represented by the following general formula (I) as a constituent and having a softening point of 100.degree. to 120.degree. C., as measured by a ring and ball method, a glass transition temperature of 55.degree. C. or more, a Gardner color scale of 2 or less and a haze value of 15 or less, and the fixing operation is conducted while supplying a functional group-containing organopolysiloxane having a viscosity of 10 to 100,000 cs at 25.degree. C. to a roll in contact with the toner image, whereby the full color toner image can be stably fixed without wrapping of the transfer medium around the roll and offset, and the fixed image having good image quality can be obtained: ##STR1## wherein R represents an ethylene group or a propylene group, each of x and y is an integer of 1 or more, and x+y is 2 to 6.

Method for fixing full color toner images

Disclosed is a fixing device where a copying medium carrying a non-fixed toner image thereon is passed between a pair of fixing rolls as being kept in direct contact with each other under pressure so as to fix the non-fixed toner image on the copying medium, the device being characterized in that a toner release at least containing, as an active ingredient, a functional group-containing organopolysiloxane of a general formula (I): ##STR1## the organopolysiloxane having a viscosity of from 10 to 100,000 cs at 25.degree. C., is supplied to at least the fixing roll of being brought into contact with the non-fixed toner image of the said pair of fixing rolls. Using the toner release, the copying medium releasability from the fixing roll to which the toner release is applied is good and the heat-resistance of the fixing roll is also good.

Fixing device

An image formed of a colored image forming material mainly composed of thermoplastic resin and carried by a paper sheet is heated and fused by a heating member which is typically belt-like and includes an adhesion preventive layer for preventing adhesion of the image forming material, a conductive layer formed on the adhesion preventive layer, and an electric heating layer for generating heat upon reception of electric energy. A power supply member typically has divisional electrodes arranged in the width direction of the heating member, and supplies the electric energy to the heating member. A pressurizing member is disposed opposite the heating member with the image-carrying sheet interposed therebetween, and provides a pressure acting between the divisional electrodes and the image-carrying sheet. A control circuit controls pulse currents to be supplied to the divisional electrodes through the power supply member in accordance with an image signal having been used for forming the image on the image carrying sheet.

An elastic roll of the first embodiment comprises an elastic body layer formed in a thickness not less than 200 .mu.m on a metal core bar; and a covering layer with a release property formed in a thickness ranging from 3 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m on the surface of the elastic body, the covering layer being formed of a composite material composed of fibrillated polytetrafluoroethylene and elastomer having releasing properties. An elastic fixing roll of second embodiment comprises a heat-conductive elastic body layer formed of heat-resistant elastomer in a thickness not less than 200 .mu.m on a metal core bar; an oil-resistant layer formed of oil-resistant elastomer in a layer thickness ranging from 3 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m on the elastic body layer; and a covering layer having a release property and formed of a composite material composed of fibrillated polytetrafluoroethylene and elastomer with a release property in a thickness ranging from 3 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m on the oil-resistant layer.

A device for developing an electrostatic latent image recorded on a photoconductive layer. The developing device comprises a doner roll for supporting a uniform layer of single-component developing material adjacent to the photoconductive layer. The doner roll is disposed as to create a space gap between the photoconductive layer and the doner roll. The doner roll is made of semiconductive material having a specific resistance ranging from 10.sup.6 to 10.sup.12 .OMEGA.cm. An electrical bias potential is applied across the gap, thereby establishing a field for transferring the developing material from the doner roll to the photoconductive layer.
