A product design CAD data reconstruction unitreconstructs product design CAD data used for product evaluation regarding an initial design so as to fulfill restrictive conditions obtained from the product evaluation based on a product structure for the initial design. The reconstructed product design CAD data is stored in a product design CAD data database. Upon reception of a corrected design obtained by correcting the initial design, the product design CAD data for the initial design is read from the product design CAAD data database, and the product design CAD data is corrected along a design surface of the corrected design.

A power train supporting apparatus in an engine compartment of a vehicle has a ladder-like sub-frame located under the power train. Right and left sub-side members constituting the sub-frame each contain a curved portion, which facilitates bending thereof. A first engine mount and a second engine mount for bearing the weight of the power train are attached to these curved portions. A third engine mount for supporting the power train at the top is connected to a side frame member. The third engine mount releases the power train when a load exceeding a predetermined value is applied vertically to the power train. During a collision of the vehicle with an obstacle, the power train is released by the top engine mount when subjected to the impact and shifts downward to a space under the engine compartment. With an empty engine compartment, bending of the sub-side members is permitted, and thus the power train is prevented from interfering with these members.

Power train supporting apparatus

An apparatus for supporting a power train in a vehicle body having a monocoque structure that includes a bumper reinforcer, which is arranged in front of a passenger compartment, side members, and a toe board. The supporting apparatus is provided with first and second push rods, and a torque rod for supporting the power train. The first and second push rods are connected to the bumper reinforcer and support the front side of the power train. During a head-on collision, the first and second push rods cause the power train to be displaced toward the passenger compartment in a downwardly inclined direction. In the same manner, the torque rod is connected to the toe board and supports the rear side of the power train. During the head-on collision, the torque rod also causes the power train to be displaced toward the passenger compartment in a downwardly inclined direction.
