A camera with a non-TTL type finder may avoid a mechanical complexity, may be produced with a gentler standard in dimensional accuracy than conventional cameras of such a type, and may lower consumption of a power battery. A finder focusing dial is manually rotated together with a cam member to swing an interlocking lever. An end of the interlocking lever moves an objective lens frame back and forth. When it is observed that an image of a target subject becomes focused on a finder focusing screen through a finder eye piece, the rotation of the dial is stopped. A focused state detecting device detects a stop position of an objective lens to supply a detection value to a photo-taking optical system focusing amount determining device to determine an amount of focusing. A drive device drives the photo-taking optical system into an in-focus state in accordance with the focusing amount thus determined.

Camera with non-TTL type finder

In a distance measuring device of a camera, a distance measuring optical system unit has light-emitting and light-receiving elements for distance measurement. The distance measuring optical system unit is rotated from one end of a photographing screen to the other end thereof to perform a distance measuring operation. The distance measuring optical system unit is rotated and stopped in a set distance measuring range by a cam rotated by a DC motor and a driven arm portion of the distance measuring optical system unit. Distance measuring object ranges of the distance measuring optical system unit are switched by a switch. For example, the distance measuring object ranges are set with respect to many-point distance measurement or one-point distance measurement.

A camera having a television mode has a shutter unit for opening and closing a plurality of shutter blades used as a shutter and a diaphragm by rotating a step motor in normal and reverse directions; a photometric device for performing a photometric operation with respect to a photographed object; a mode switching device for selectively switching a television mode for photographing a picture image on a television screen and a normal mode for performing a normal photographing operation; a trigger switch for outputting an open signal in synchronization with an operation for opening the shutter blades and outputting a closed signal in synchronization with an operation for closing the shutter blades; and a calculator for calculating an exposure amount by photometric information provided by the photometric device when the normal photographing mode is selected by the mode switching device. The calculator converts the calculated exposure amount to a time from a generating time point of the open signal of the trigger switch to a time point of the reverse rotation of the step motor so as to control a program exposing operation with respect to the shutter unit. The calculator calculates the exposure amount by the photometric information provided by the photometric device when the television mode is selected.
