In an electrophotographic printer, a guide member is arranged at the upstream side of the record medium feed path with respect to the transfer charger for shifting the recording medium towards the photoconductive drum by a predetermined amount. A conductive brush member, which is grounded, is arranged at the downstream side of the feed path with respect to the transfer charger for shifting the recording medium towards the photoconductive drum by another predetermined amount.

In an electrophotographic image recording apparatus, a bending correction mechanism is provided for correcting a bending direction of a recording sheet such as fan-fold paper which is fed therethrough. In the mechanism, a pressure roller is provided and is arranged on the upstream side of the feed path of the recording sheet with respect to a photoconductive drum of the apparatus, and on the photoconductive drum side with respect to the feed path of the recording sheet. A guide member arranged opposite to the pressure roller with respect to the feed path of the recording sheet is also provided. The recording sheet is nipped between the pressure roller and the guide member, and the recording sheet is caused to contact the circumferential surface of the pressure roller member by a predetermined amount.

In an electrophotographic printer using a continuous-form sheet as a recording medium, there is provided a sheet separating mechanism comprising an elastic member arranged to be deformed by the continuous-form sheet, that is pressed by a transferring charger, when the transferring charger is located at an operating position and a transferring operation is to be executed, or to be released from the deformation when the transferring charger is retracted from the operating position. Thus, the continuous-form sheet is definitely separated from a photoconductive material by the elastic member as it is released from the deformation, when the transferring operation is not to be executed.

In a printing position adjusting mechanism employed in an image forming apparatus using a continuous form recording medium having perforated tear lines at predetermined intervals, are sensors are provided for detecting a leading edge of the recording medium and outputting a predetermined signal synchronously with the feeding of the recording medium. With the printing position adjusting mechanism, the period of time, between the detection of the leading edge of the continuous sheet and outputting of the predetermined signal, is adjustable. The apparatus starts printing upon receiving the predetermined signal which is outputted after a predetermined time has elapsed after the leading edge of the continuous sheet is detected.

In a printing device such as a laser beam printer utilizing a continuous-form recording sheet, a forming member is provided for forming an image on a continuous-form recording sheet. A feeding mechanism feeds the continuous-form recording sheet along a predetermined feeding path, and a fixing mechanism fixes the image onto the continuous-form recording sheet. A detecting device, located at the upstream side of the fixing member along the predetermined feeding path, detects a leading edge of the continuous-form recording sheet, and a controlling device controls the feeding member so as not to feed the continuous-form recording sheet when the leading edge of the continuous-form recording sheet is detected by the detecting member. Thus, it becomes possible to prevent more than one page of recording sheet from being wasted.
