A fluid ejecting apparatus includes a drive element that performs a driving operation when a drive waveform is applied thereto and causes a nozzle to eject fluid. A drive signal generating unit generates a first drive signal having a first drive waveform at a front section of a predetermined period and a second drive waveform at a rear section thereof. A second drive signal has a third drive waveform at a front section of the predetermined period and a fourth drive waveform at a rear section thereof. A method of constructing an ink cartridge is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: providing an ink bag with an ink supply port at one end and an ink charge opening at an opposite end thereof; then affixing a back member to an external flat side of the ink bag; then suspending the ink bag with the ink supply port facing downward and charging a predetermined amount of ink into the ink bag via the ink charge opening; then permanently sealing the ink charge opening; keeping the ink bag flat with the back member; and affixing the back member to the bottom of a case main body.

An ink cartridge including a flexible, rectangular ink bag located within a case main body which has a cover, wherein the ink bag is attached on one side to an ink depletion detecting plate which has a detecting piece and a plurality of projecting pieces. The projecting pieces extend from the outer edge of the ink bag and are capable of coming in contact with a side wall of the case main body when the cartridge is dropped or shaken and keep the deformation of the ink bag to a minimum thereby protecting the ink bag from damage during transportation.

An ink supply communication path is formed so that one end thereof is arranged outside a region confronting a pressure producing chamber at a region confronting a reservoir chamber; and an ink supply constricted port is arranged at a portion of the ink supply communication path, the portion being remotest from the pressure producing chamber. Since the pressure producing chamber is connected to the ink supply constricted port through the elongated ink supply communication path, a jet flow from the ink supply constricted port grows into a large flow along the ink supply communication path, which in turn allows air bubbles susceptible to stagnation in the vicinity of the ink supply constricted port to be discharged by such large flow.
