A mechanical mounting for a zoom lens having a tubular body in which is rotatably fitted a cam sleeve for controlling the axial movements of optical elements contributing to a zooming action. In order to keep the axial position of the cam sleeve relative to the body tube with a high precision accuracy as it rotates about the optical axis, a restraining mechanism is constructed in the form of rollers radially extending from the cam sleeve into a fitted circumferential interior recess of the body tube.

In a portable video system for recording motion pictures by using a video camera and a video recorder, the cable cord connecting said video camera with the video recorder is made detachable, and the cable cord connection terminal on the bottom panel of the housing of the video camera and the cable cord connection terminal on the upper panel of the housing of the video recorder are constructed to be directly connectable to each other so that said camera may be fixedly mounted on said recorder. A grip is arranged on one of the side panels of said camera housing to be usable in any of the cases where the camera is in isolation and where the recorder is directly connected to the camera, and the recorder is provided with a tripod screw hole for enabling attachment of a tripod thereto at the bottom panel of the housing thereof.

A video system comprising a unitary body type camera, constituted of a video camera for image pick up and a recorder for recording the image signal obtained from the camera, and a reproducing adapter used in combination with the unitary body type camera. The lens of the camera is covered with the reproducing adapter when the adapter is mounted on the unitary body type camera. The reproducing adapter is connected to the camera for converting the recorded image signal into a signal reproducible on a TV receiver.

This application discloses a motion picture camera having an automatic focus (auto-focus) adjusting device for automatically focusing a shooting lens on an object. The motion picture camera includes a first manipulating means for selecting one mode of the following three modes, a first mode in which said auto-focus adjusting device is rendered inoperative so that the shooting lens can be manually focused; a second mode in which, in response to the camera release, the shooting lens can be auto-focus adjusted by said auto-focus adjusting device only once and thereafter held at a locked position irrespective of variations in distance between the shooting lens and object; and a third mode in which, throughout a period of the camera release, the shooting lens can be continuously auto-focus adjusted by said auto-focus adjusting device, following the variations in distance between the shooting lens and object, and a second manipulating means effective only in said second and third modes for permitting the shooting lens to be auto-focus adjusted by said auto-focus adjusting device again only once during the camera release in the second mode and for holding the shooting lens at its locked position irrespective of the camera release in the third mode.

In a sound motion picture camera which permits both sound filming and silent filming by selective use of a sound film cartridge and a silent film cartridge, utilization is made of only signals from loop detecting means for detecting variations in the length of a loop of sound film formed between the exposure station and the sound recording station of the camera during the use of the sound film cartridge, whereby during the use of the silent film cartridge, the film transport speed of a first film transport means for effecting film transport at the exposure station is automatically set to a first speed suited for use of the silent film cartridge and during the use of the sound film cartridge, the film transport speed of the first film transport means is changed over between a second speed higher than the film transport speed of a second film transport means for effecting film transport at the sound recording station and a third speed lower than the film transport speed of the second film transport means in accordance with a decrease and an increase in the film loop length so that the film loop may be maintained at a predetermined length.

Sound motion picture camera

A motion picture camera is adapted to receive a film magazine containing a roll of sound recordable photographic film. A housing forms a chamber to receive the magazine. A cover opens and closes the chamber. A recording system records sound signals on the film. A setting arrangement engages the recorder system and the film with each other so as to record signals. The setting arrangement is movable into a first position where the film engages the recorder and a second position where the film is disengaged from the recorder so as to be incapable of recording sound signals. A transport device is coupled to the setting arrangement in the first position when the recorder is in the first position. An interconnecting system responds to closure of the cover for moving the setting arrangement from the second position to the first position so that the camera can be set for sound signal recording in response to the closing of the cover.

The present invention relates to a sound motion picture camera capable of the sound recording on the film at the same time with the film exposure by using a sound film cartridge containing a sound film and having an opening for enabling sound recording on the film by means of sound recording device, whereby the sound motion picture camera is provided with a preventive means for preventing the film cartridge from being improperly taken out of the cartridge loading chamber of the camera in the state in which the sound recording device is operatively engaged with the film in the opening of the film cartridge for recording the sound on the film. The preventive means is in functional engagement with the camera release means or the running lock means so as to prevent the film cartridge from being taken out of the cartridge loading chamber only when the depression of the release means or the locking of the release means in the depressed position by the lock means is freed and the release means resumes the freed position so as to disengage the sound recording device from the film.

A motion picture camera which can use a cartridge for film having a sound track includes sound recording means and a mechanism which actuates and releases the sound recording means to an operative state and to an inoperative state, respectively, in response to an actuation and a release of a shutter release member. All such parts which are needed to engage a film are arranged in a cartridge chamber defined in the camera housing so that the operator enables to readily insert a cartridge into the chamber so long as the sound recording means are set to their inoperative position. In another phase of the present invention, in order to insure proper sound effect, a motion picture camera of the type described and having a manually switchable picture image frame frequency control device having a plurality of switched positions is provided with locking means positioned adjacent the control device upon engagement therewith to lock the control device in a particular position for image-sound synchronous recording operation, and operatively associated with one of the switches of the circuit of the sound recording means upon engagement with the control device to close the switch.

Motion picture camera for use with a cartridge for film having a sound

A motion picture camera is adapted to receive a film magazine containing a roll of sound recordable photographic film. A housing forms a chamber to receive the magazine. A cover opens and closes the chamber. A recording system records sound signals on the film. A setting arrangement engages the recorder system and the film with each other so as to record signals. The setting arrangement is movable into a first position where the film engages the recorder and a second position where the film is disengaged from the recorder so as to be incapable of recording sound signals. A transport device is coupled to the setting arrangement in the first position when the recorder is in the first position. And an interconnecting system responds to closure of the cover for moving the setting arrangement from the second position to the first position so that the camera can be set for sound signal recording in response to the closing of the cover.

The camera has a picture image recording mechanism to record a picture image on a picture image recording part of the film, a sound recording mechanism to record sound information at the film having sound recording part, a constant speed film feeding mechanism having a capstan and a pinch roller to run the film at a constant speed at a sound recording head part of the sound recording mechanism, and a release member which controls initiation of a camera and is mechanically linked selectively with the sound recording mechanism and the constant speed film feeding mechanism, and which can simultaneously record a picture image and sound at the film within the cartridge when the film cartridge for simultaneous sound recording is loaded. The system includes a change over mechanism for releasing the above mentioned mechanical link between said release member and the sound recording mechanism and the constant speed film feeding mechanism when the above mentioned silent film cartridge is loaded for placing the sound recording mechanism and the constant speed film feeding mechanism in an inoperative state irrespective of function of the release member, and mechanically linking said release member with the above mentioned sound recording mechanism and a constant speed film feeding mechanism when the above mentioned simultaneous sound recording film cartridge is loaded, so that the sound recording mechanism and constant speed film feeding mechanism are placed either in an operative state or an inoperative state corresponding to the action of the above mentioned release member.

The above mentioned sound signal recording head can take an active state wherein sound signal recording on the above mentioned sound signal recording belt is possible and an inactive state wherein said recording is impossible, selectively, and the shifting from said inactive state to the active state is done in an association with the action of the locking means of the cover of a chamber for the above mentioned film cartridge so that simultaneous sound recording and photographing can be done immediately after the camera cover is locked.
