Polyurethane resin curable at low temperature and in a short time is prepared by contacting a compound having 1-oxa-3,5-diazine-2,4,6-trione ring as well as isocyanate groups, e.g. a reaction product of an aliphatic, alicyclic or aralkyl polyisocyanate, e.g. hexamethylene diisocyanate and carbon dioxide and a compound having active hydrogen, e.g. polyester polyol, with tert-amine, e.g. trimethylamine present in gaseous phase, at a temperature of 0.degree.-100.degree. C. The ratio of the sum of the numbers of the trione ring and the isocyanate group to the number of the active hydrogen in the compound having the same is 0.1 to 10.

Method for producing polyurethane resins

Polyurethane compound is cured in a short time at about room temperature by contacting a polyurethane compound having 1-oxa-3,5-diazine-2,4,6-trione ring but no isocyanate group with an amine present in gaseous phase in the presence or absence of such a compound having active hydrogen as polyester polyol. The composition has excellent storage stability and the cured coatings have no problems of yellowing and pin-holes and are excellent in mechanical properties, chemical resistance and weather resistance.

Disclosed is a thermosetting polyurethane coating composition of one-pack type which comprises (1) a compound having at least one NCO group blocked with an alcohol, lactam or oxime blocking agent and at least one oxadiazine-2,4,6-trione ring and (2) a polyol having a molecular weight of 400 to 50,000. The composition has good storage stability and provides coating films having no problems such as yellowing and pin-holes and excellent in mechanical properties, chemical resistance and weather resistance.

Disclosed is a composition for polyurethane resins which is ordinarily of two-package type and curable at ambient temperature and which comprises an isocyanate component having oxadiazinetrione ring as a curing agent and a polyol component, having in the molecule, at least one of a tertiary amino group, a quaternary ammonium group and a salt-formed carboxyl group as a main component.
