An apparatus for scrolling the display of images obtained from a plurality of data units, each having pattern signals representing a plurality of horizontal lines and a corresponding color signal includes a video display having a plurality of horizontal display lines, a first memory for storing the pattern signals formed with first addresses corresponding to the plurality of horizontal display lines and a first buffer area for temporarily storing received pattern signals, a second memory for storing the color signal formed with second addresses corresponding to the numbers of the data units and a second buffer area for temporarily storing a received color signal, the pattern signals and a corresponding color signal being stored in the first and second buffer areas, respectively. A read out system operates so that the first memory, including the first buffer area, is read out by accessing the first addresses in a pre-determined order and so that the second memory, including the second buffer area, is read out by accessing the second addresses in a pre-determined order. Also provided is a circuit for transferring the pattern signal of a horizontal line stored in the first buffer area to a corresponding address of the first memory and for transferring a corresponding color signal stored in the second buffer area to a corresponding address of the second memory, and a circuit for supplying the pattern signals and the corresponding color signal to the display tube.

Apparatus for displaying scrolling images

An antenna apparatus has a first wire-like antenna element formed into a rectangular planar loop and a second antenna element which comprises two L-shaped plates electrically connected to the loop and mounted to a rectangular planar base member. The loop is hinged to the planar base member along long sides of the respective rectangles so that the angle between the planes of the loop and base member is adjustable. The base member pivots about an axis on a mount which can be secured to a television receiver.

A television receiver having a horizontal output transistor includes a collector and an emitter respectively connected to a first potential and a second ground potential, a first series circuit of first and second damper diodes connected between the first potential and ground potential, a second series circuit of a deflection coil and an S-shaping capacitor connected in parallel with the collector-emitter path of the transistor, a retrace capacitor connected between the first potential and second ground potential, respectively, a third capacitor connected between the cathode of the second damper diode and the second ground potential, a first voltage supply source connected to the first potential through a choke coil, and a second voltage supply source connected to the anode of the second damper diode through a primary winding of a transformer of a load circuit, the voltage E.sub.1 supplied by the first voltage supply source being selected greater than or equal to the voltage E.sub.2 supplied by the second voltage supply source.

Television receiver

A loop antenna apparatus is disclosed which includes a main conductive loop arranged on a first surface, a plurality of supplemental conductive loops connected to the main conductive loop and arranged on different surfaces from the first surface, respectively, a plurality of signal feeding points provided in different loops of the main and supplemental conductive loops, an output terminal and change-over switches for selectively connecting one of the plurality of signal feeding points to the output terminal.

Loop antenna apparatus with variable directivity

An antenna system is disclosed which has a loop antenna divided into n conductive members at n pairs of divisional points where n is a positive integer not smaller than 2, n feeders connected to the n pairs of divisional points respectively, a signal feeding point, and at least one impedance element. In this case, electrical switching circuits are connected between the n feeders and the impedance element, and an electrical control circuit is connected to the electrical switching circuits for selectively connecting the feeding point to one of the n feeders and at the same time for selectively connecting the impedance element to another of the n feeders, so that the directivity characteristic of the antenna system is variable controlled.

Antenna system with variable directivity

A method and apparatus for improving the sharpness of a video picture displayed on the screen of a cathode ray tube. At least one electron beam scans the screen in line-scanning and vertical directions, respectively, the electron beam having its intensity modulated in accordance with a video signal. The scanning velocity of the electron beam is modulated in the line-scanning direction in accordance with transitions of the video signal which correspond to transitions between high and low brightness levels of the displayed video picture. Each electron beam is shaped to have a substantially oval shape whose longer axis is disposed in the line-scanning direction and whose shorter axis is disposed in the vertical direction, whereby the oval-shaped beam impinges upon the display screen and the sharpness of the displayed video picture in the vertical direction is improved.

Method and apparatus for improving the sharpness of a video picture

A remote control apparatus having a commander and a receiver. In a wireless remote control system for a television receiver having a channel command device and a responding device, the channel command device includes a channel selecting circuit for selecting one channel command from among a plurality of predetermined channel commands, a command signal generating circuit for generating a channel command signal corresponding to a selected channel command, and a channel command transmitting circuit having a speaker for transmitting the channel command signal; and the responding device includes a channel command receiving circuit having a microphone for receiving the transmitted channel command signal and a channel command discriminating circuit for discriminating the channel command signal and supplying a channel selecting signal corresponding to the discriminated channel command signal to control a tuning circuit of the television receiver. Further, there is provided in the responding device, a return signal generating circuit for producing a return signal corresponding to the channel command indicated by the channel selecting signal and a return signal transmitting circuit having a speaker for transmitting the return signal, while the channel command device further has a return signal receiving circuit having a microphone for receiving the transmitted return signal, a return signal discriminating circuit for discriminating the return signal and producing a discriminated return signal indicating the channel command to which the return signal corresponds, a comparing circuit for comparing the originally selected channel command and the discriminated return signal, and an indicating circuit connected to the comparing circuit for indicating a coincidence of the originally selected channel command and the discriminated return signal.

Remote control apparatus

A muting circuit for a television receiver of the type having a tuner which is operative to select a desired channel in accordance with a channel selection operation to produce a channel select signal representing the selected channel, a detector circuit for detecting whether a video signal is present or not, a muting signal generator circuit supplied with an output from the detector circuit and the channel select signal representing the selection of a predetermined channel to produce a muting signal when the predetermined channel is selected but no output is produced by the detector circuit, and a muting circuit coupled to a low frequency signal transmission path in response to the muting signal from the muting signal generator circuit to cut off or attenuate the transmission of a low frequency signal.

Muting circuit for a television receiver

In a circuit for controlling the current flow through a coil, such as the horizontal deflection coil of a television receiver, a first switching device including, for example, a first switching transistor and a first damper diode is connected in parallel with a first resonant circuit including a first capacitor and a first coil, which is the coil through which the current flow is to be controlled. A second switching device including for example, a second switching transistor and a second damper diode is connected in parallel with a second resonant circuit including a second capacitor and a second coil. First and second charging capacitors are connected in series with the first and second coils, respectively, and the power is supplied to the first and second resonant circuits for example through a third coil. Switching signals of the same frequency, for example, the horizontal frequency of a video signal, are applied to the first and second switching transistors with the phase difference between such signals being controlled to vary the relative voltages across the first and second charging capacitors and hence 'to control' the current flowing through the first coil. The phase difference between the switching signals can be varied by a parabolic correcting signal having the vertical frequency of a video signal to cause the current flow through the horizontal deflection coil to correct for the side pin-cushion distortion of the raster of a cathode ray tube. In another embodiment of the invention, the phase difference between the switching signals can be modulated by a sawtooth wave signal having the vertical frequency so that the voltage across the first or second charging capacitor varies in a sawtooth manner at the vertical frequency and so that if a vertical deflection coil is connected across the first or second charging capacitor a sawtooth shaped current flow will take place through it, causing proper vertical deflection.

Current control circuit

For improving the frequency characteristic of a color television signal, particularly one in which the chrominance component thereof is provided with a bandwidth substantially narrower than that of the luminance component, the luminance component is used to generate a control signal which is proportional to the lack of registration between low and high frequency portions of the luminance component spectrum, and the control signal thus obtained selectively increases and decreases a delay applied to the relatively narrow-bandwidth chrominance component to substantially align its excursions with the excursions of the relatively wide bandwidth luminance component.

Circuit for improving the frequency characteristic of a color television

In a circuit for controlling the current flow through a coil, such as, the horizontal deflection coil of a television receiver, a first switching circuit including a first switching transistor and a first damper diode is connected in parallel with a first resonant circuit including a first capacitor and a first coil which is the coil through which the current flow is to be controlled, a second switching circuit including a second switching transistor and a second damper diode is connected in parallel with a second resonant circuit including a second capacitor and a second coil, a charging capacitor is connected in a common current path for the first and second resonant circuits, and switching signals of the same frequency, for example, the horizontal frequency of a video signal, are applied to the first and second switching transistors with the phase difference between such signals being controlled to vary the voltage across the charging capacitor and hence the current flowing through the first coil. The phase difference between the switching signals is varied or modulated by a parabolic correcting signal having the vertical rate or frequency of a video signal in the case where a side pin-cushion distortion of the raster of a cathode ray tube is to be corrected, or the phase difference can be modulated by a correcting signal corresponding to the electron beam current or anode voltage in the cathode ray tube so as to stabilize the horizontal dimension of the raster.

Current control circuit for horizontal deflection coil of television

In a video signal reproducing apparatus having a cathode ray tube in which at least one electron beam is made to scan a screen in line-scanning and vertical directions while the intensity of the beam is modulated to establish the brightness of a video picture to be displayed on the screen, and in which bright picture portions are represented by respective high level portions of a video signal defined between rising and falling edges extending from low level signal portions representing contiguous dark picture portions; a waveshaping circuit receives the video signal and acts thereon to provide a compensated video signal in which the width of each high level portion between the respective rising and falling edges is increased, the compensated video signal is employed to control the intensity of the electron beam, the rising and falling edges of each high level portion of the video signal are detected to provide a beam velocity modulation signal with respective positive and negative peaks by which the scanning velocity of the beam in the line-scanning direction is modulated, and the positions of such positive and negative peaks are shafted, relative to the corresponding peaks of a differentiation of the video signal, in the directions toward the adjacent low level signal portions of the compensated video signal.

Video signal reproducing apparatus with electron beam scanning velocity

A color television receiver hue-control system that produces two sets of color-generating signals, one set being differentially controllable and the other not, to produce two kinds of reference color areas on the screen of a color cathode ray tube to be visible simultaneously. The hue of the first reference color in a first area is fixed, and the hue of the second reference color in an adjacent area is varied by the same hue adjustment control as that used to vary the hue in the reproduced television picture. The hue adjustment is achieved by adjusting the control to produce differential modification of the amplitude of one set of color-generating signals, either by direct amplitude modification or by phase shifting a demodulating carrier if the set of color-generating signals is modulated on a carrier, to produce coincidence of the hue of the two reference colors.

Color television receiver

A multivibrator circuit has a main constant current source through which the main portion of the current of the multivibrator circuit is supplied and a by-pass current source through which a portion of the current to be supplied to the main constant current source is supplied, whereby the duty cycle of the multivibrator circuit is controlled. When the by-pass current is changed, the frequency of the multivibrator circuit is changed. The frequency of the multivibrator, when used as the frequency-modulated oscillator in a video tape recorder, may thus be set regardless of the signal clipping level and signal clamping level in a video recording circuit of the video tape recorder.

Current controlled emitter coupled multivibrator

An undesired signal canceller for a composite amplitude modulated signal including an undesired signal delayed by a time .tau..sub.o from a desired signal. The composite signal is supplied to a detector circuit. A carrier signal of the same frequency as that of the amplitude modulated carrier and delayed in phase by the time .tau..sub.o is produced. This carrier signal is amplitude modulated with a signal formed by delaying the output signal from the detector circuit by the time .tau..sub.o, and the amplitude modulated carrier signal is combined with the composite amplitude modulated signal to cancel the undesired signal therefrom.
