Disclosed is a document conveying apparatus including: a reading unit which read image information on a surface of a document; a driving-side discharge unit which conveys the document in a first direction in contact with the first surface, and discharges at least a part of the document; a driven-side discharge unit which receives transmission of a rotative force from the driving-side discharge unit, when being in contact with the driving-side discharge unit; a specific-direction conveying unit which conveys the document in an opposite direction to the first direction; a pressing force applying unit which applies a force in a third direction to the driven-side discharge unit so as to be in contact with the driving-side discharge unit; and a movement control unit which moves the driven-side discharge unit in an opposite direction to the third direction, when the document is in contact with the driven-side discharge unit.

The sheet feeding apparatus of the invention includes a driving roller that is rotated by a predetermined driving source, a driven roller that rotates in response to movement of said driving roller, said driven roller being placed opposite said driving roller and having contact with a roller surface of said driving roller, a pressing member that presses a roller surface of said driven roller toward said roller surface of driving roller at a predetermined pressure, and driven roller holding member that includes an opening being elongated in a tangential direction at a contact point between said driven roller and said driving roller or between said driven roller and a sheet, on a circle forming said roller surface of said driven roller.

Sheet feeding apparatus, document reading apparatus and method for feeding sheet

In a double-sided document transport device having a document reverse mechanism for suppressing the occurrence of jam and deterioration of read image, after a document is transported to a reading position, it is transported to the reading position again to read a rear side thereof through a reverse path. The device has discharge rollers disposed on an upper side and pinch rollers disposed on a lower side. The discharge rollers discharge a document as well as guides it to the reverse path by reversing it while claming the rear end thereof. The pinch rollers are fixed, and the discharge rollers are separated therefrom approximately upward about a rotation shaft of a transport unit. For this purpose, the discharge rollers are pressed against the pinch rollers and separated therefrom by a cancel lever. A drive system has two transmission routes one of which is reversed through a torque limiter and the other is reversed through an electromagnetic clutch.
