A stainless clad plate or sheet (herein called sheet) comprising a super-low carbon steel layer containing at least one of Ti and Nb (Ti+Nb.ltoreq.0.15% and ##EQU1## and an austenite stainless steel layer on one or both sides of the carbon steel layer. The thickness of the stainless steel layer is preferably from 2.5 to 30% of the total thickness of the clad steel sheet. The stainless clad steel sheet is produced preferably by continuous casting stainless steel melt on the carbon steel slab, hot and cold rolling the stainless clad steel slab, and annealing under specific conditions for desired properties.

A method for producing a plain low carbon hot rolled steel strip or sheet having a low yield ratio, not higher than 70%, high ductility and high tensile strength comprising: hot rolling a steel slab with its finishing temperature not lower than the Ar.sub.3 transformation temperature, cooling the hot rolled strip from a temperature not lower than Ar.sub.3 transformation temperature and coiling the hot rolled strip at a temperature not higher than 300.degree. C.

Method for producing high tensile strength, high ductility, low yield

A method for producing a high tensile strength steel plate which comprises subjecting to a low temperature rolling, a steel composition containing not more than 0.25% of carbon, not more than 0.5% of silicon, 0.5 to 2.0% of manganese, not more than 0.015% of sulfur, 0.005 to 0.1% of aluminum, one or more of niobium, vanadium and titanium in an amount not less than 0.01%, and REM in an amount not less than 1.3 times the amount of sulfur, with optionally one or more of nickel, chromium and copper, with the balance being iron and unavoidable impurities, which steel possesses a low notch toughness transition temperature and high absorbed energy in the notch-impact test, and is suitable in the as rolled condition for use as pipe lines in cold districts.
