Two motor and planetary gear type speed reducers are disposed sequentially from an outer side in a width direction of a vehicle, whereby the speed reducers are disposed between the motors. A radially outer edge of a ring gear of one of the speed reducers is formed smaller than the smaller one of the two radially outermost edge portions of the motors. An offset space that is recessed further radially than an imaginary line that connects the radially outermost edge portion of one motor with the that of the other motor is provided radially outwards of the ring gear of one of the speed reducers, and at least part of a breather chamber of a breather unit and at least part of a strainer accommodation compartment are disposed within the offset space. It is thus possible to expand a volumetric capacity room that communicates with an interior of a case.

Vehicle drive system

A rear wheel driving apparatus () includes: a first right-left communication passage (FP) through which a left reservoir (RL) and a right reservoir (RR) are communicated with each other; and a second right-left communication passage (SP) which is provided in parallel with the first right-left communication passage (FP) and through which the left reservoir (RL) and the right reservoir (RR) are communicated with each other. Thus, flowability of a liquid fluid stored in a case () is enhanced, and smoothing of a fluid level is enabled.

Vehicle driving apparatus

A supporting structure for a planetary gear mechanism includes a planetary carrier, a first bearing, and a second bearing. The planetary carrier includes a rotation shaft and an arm portion. The rotation shaft extends in an axis direction to support a planetary gear of the planetary gear mechanism to be rotatable about a rotational axis along the axis direction. The rotation shaft includes a first end and a second end opposite to the first end along the rotational axis. The first and second bearings are disposed on a first side of the planetary gear in the axis direction. The planetary carrier is radially supported by the first and second bearings without a bearing which radially supports the planetary carrier in the casing and which is provided on a second side of the planetary gear in the axis direction.

Supporting structure for planetary gear mechanism

Pressures of left and right clutch pistons () applied to left and right disk portions () of a common clutch outer () of left and right clutches () distributing drive force of an input shaft () to left and right output shafts () are, finally, transmitted to and supported by a side housing () through a boss portion () of the clutch outer () and a thrust bearing (). Accordingly, the left and right clutches () can be engaged with no problem. Even when the pressures of the clutch pistons () deform the left and right disk portions () of the clutch outer (), the gap (&#x3b1;) formed therebetween prevents the transmission of the pressure of one of the clutches () to the other clutch (). Accordingly, the interference between the operations of the left and right clutches () is prevented.
