A plastic medical container which contains an infusion solution, such as a blood bag, is wrapped and sealed together with a deoxidizer in a flexible bag having retarded permeability to a gas and stream. The plastic medical container is in tight contact with and fixed by the flexible bag while being kept at a reduced pressure. The medical container is not moved in the wrapping bag during loading, and a tube connected to the medical container is not twisted. A moisture-absorbing body may be interposed between the deoxidizer and the medical container.

In a blood bag system for plasma transfusion and cell return including two or more blood bags containing anticoagulant and connected to a puncture needle through two or more branch tubes and a common main tube, a cell return port is connected to the branch and a breakable flow path closure is inserted in one branch tube adjacent the branch. When broken, the flow path closure allows fluid communication through the branch tube. Blood is first collected in the first blood bag, which bag is sealed when filled and separated from the system. Then, the flow path closure is manually broken to permit blood collection into the second blood bag.

A syringe comprises a cylinder with a cannula embedded in the tip portion of the cylinder and a protector cap mounted on the tip portion for protecting the cannula. Prior art syringes in which the front end of the cylinder is in close contact with the rear end of the protector are difficult to gas-sterilize because the interior space between the protector and the tip portion is sealed. The cylinder tip portion is provided with at least one first rib or channel and the cylinder front end with at least one second rib or channel that together form a passage for fluid communication between the interior of the protector cap and the outside of the cylinder such that the syringe can be fully gas-sterilized with the protector cap mounted. The second rib(s) or channel(s) also functions to restrict the advance of the protector cap to prevent damage to the cannula.
