In an airbag device ( ) wherein within a casing ( ) opening upwardly an inflator ( ) and an airbag ( ) are housed at its bottom part and the opening side, respectively, a cylindrical diffuser ( ) surrounding the outer circumference of the inflator ( ) is provided, which has a partition wall ( ) projecting toward the opening side of the casing and partitioning an airbag-housing space into a forward side and a rearward side relative to the vehicle, in which to house the airbag ( ) dividedly, and a lip portion ( ) of the airbag ( ) is superposed downwards of the diffuser ( ) thereby to lock the bottom part of the diffuser ( ) to the bottom surface of the casing ( ). Thus, it is easy, albeit compart, to control the deployment behavior of the airbag and excellent in workability of assembling the airbag in the casing.

Air bag device

In an air bag device, a diffuser 5 is provided with a partition wall 51 partitioning a space on a case opening side of the diffuser 5 into a passenger side and a side further from the passenger; a gas guiding passage 7 for guiding gas produced by an inflator 4 to a case opening 21 is formed on the side of this partition wall 51 further from the passenger, a folded air bag 3 is packed on the passenger side of the partition wall 51, and a case-side end portion 32a of an air bag upper part 32 to constitute the upper part of the deployed air bag is disposed so as to cover the exit of the gas guiding passage 7. As a result, the end portion 32a of the air bag upper part 32 is expanded first and the air bag subsequently deploys progressively and smoothly from this air bag upper part 32 side in a controlled manner.

The present invention relates to an air bag device for a vehicle comprising an inflator, an air bag, an air bag case for storing these and an air bag door, in which the air bag and the air bag door are attached to the air bag case by inserting a retainer bar in a shape of a locking bar from a retainer addingly brought into contact with the inner side of a side wall of the air bag case through engaging loop portions penetrating the side wall of the air bag case, the air bag door and the air bag, and in which the air bag and the air bag door are attached to the air bag case. In the above air bag device, by improving a structure of a support portion for supporting the retainer bar inserted through the loop portions, projections of the air bag case are reduced, compact formation and light weight formation of a module is achieved and mountability, strength and economic performance are promoted. As means therefor, the retainer is installed with support pieces for the retainer bar projected from base portions of the loop portions, elastically pressing the retainer bar to tip portions of the loop portions and pinching and supporting the retainer bar between the support pieces and the front end portions of the loop portions in the loop portions.
