A valve timing control system includes a first device for changing a mounting angle between driving and driven rotators through relative rotation thereof and including first and second rotating mechanisms coupled to each other in series, and a second device for locking the first device at a mounting-angle position which is suitable for engine start and is set between a most-lagged-angle position and a most-advanced-angle position. The second device includes a first lock mechanism for locking the first rotating mechanism at one of the most-lagged-angle position and the most-advanced-angle position and a second lock mechanism for locking the second rotating mechanism at another position. The first and second rotating mechanisms are locked by the first and second lock mechanisms at opposite positions to maintain the mounting angle at the mounting-angle position suitable for engine start.

Valve timing control system for internal combustion engine

A valve timing control system for an internal combustion engine includes a housing having and a cover member mounted thereto, a phase adjusting mechanism accommodated in the housing to hydraulically change the rotation phase of a crankshaft and a camshaft, a supply/discharge rod arranged through a through hole of the cover member and connected to the phase adjusting mechanism, a seal ring engaged with the supply/discharge rod to hermetically seal a clearance between the supply/discharge rod and the phase adjusting mechanism, a taper surface formed on the periphery of the through hole to increase the diameter of the through hole toward the outside of the housing, and a protrusion formed with the cover member in a radially inside area thereof to protrude in the axial direction of the system, wherein the through hole is formed at the protrusion.

In a valve open-and-closure timing changing apparatus for an internal combustion engine, a rotary body ( ) is revolved in synchronization with a revolution of the engine, a camshaft ( ) is provided, and a valve open-and-closure changing mechanism is interposed between the rotary body and the camshaft to relatively rotate the camshaft to the rotary body to enable a change in a valve open-and-closure timing of at least one of intake and exhaust valves. The valve open-and-closure mechanism includes: a housing member ( ) to be revolved together with the rotary body; a vane rotor relatively rotatably housed within the housing member, to be revolved together with the camshaft, and having at least one vane radially projected therefrom; at least one pair of advance angle and retardation angle chambers partitioned between the housing member and vane rotor by means of the vane; a hydraulic supply-and-draining device that supplies a working oil into either one of the pair of the advance angle or retardation angle chamber while draining the working oil from the other of the pair of the chambers to achieve a relative rotation between the housing member and vane rotor; and a boss portion projected from one axial direction of the vane rotor toward an outside of the housing member or extended at the same position thereof.

Variable valve open-and-closure timing changing apparatus for internal combustion engine

A valve timing control device disposed between a rotary element synchronously rotating with an engine and a camshaft actuating the engine valve, comprising a housing adapted to rotate with one of the rotary element and the camshaft and a vane rotor within the housing. The vane rotor has an axial bore having an open end and pressure chamber-side fluid passages open to the axial bore and is adapted to rotate with the other of the rotary element and the camshaft. Vanes radially extending from the vane rotor define within the housing fluid pressure chambers communicating with the pressure chamber-side fluid passages, respectively. A fluid control mechanism controls supply and discharge of a hydraulic fluid relative to the fluid pressure chambers. A shaft is received in the axial bore and formed with pressure source-side fluid passages connecting the pressure chamber-side fluid passages with the fluid control mechanism.

Valve timing control device for an internal combustion engine

In a variable valve timing controlling apparatus for an internal combustion engine having an engine valve, the controlling apparatus having:a rotational body rotated in synchronization with an engine crankshaft;a camshaft, one end thereof being inserted into the rotational body and the camshaft including a cam located on an outer periphery of the camshaft to open the engine valve against a spring force exerted by a valve spring of the engine valve; a phase changing device interposed between the rotational body and the one end of the camshaft to hydraulically vary a relative rotational phase between the rotational body and the camshaft; and a hydraulic pressure circuit to relatively supply and drain a hydraulic pressure to and from at least one retardation angle hydraulic pressure chamber and at least one advance angle hydraulic pressure chamber, each hydraulic pressure chamber being formed within the rotational body to drive the cam phase changing device, an interrupting mechanism is provided to interrupt a hydraulic pressure passage of the hydraulic pressure circuit to supply the hydraulic pressure to at least one of the advance angle and retardation angle hydraulic pressure chambers for a time duration which corresponds to a torque peak region of a rotation variation torque developed on the camshaft.
