An operation data recording devicemounted at a work machine detects and records operation data of the work machine. The operation data is collected by an external terminaland transmitted from the external terminalto a serverlocated in a remote place. When the operation data is collected by the external terminal, a program for the operation data recording device of the work machine is updated to the latest version by the external terminal. When transmitting the operation data from the external terminalto the remote server, an external terminal program and a program for the operation data recording device stored in the external terminalare updated to the latest versions.

In an electronic control system for a construction machine, a governor control unit, an excavator body control unit, and an electric lever control unit are interconnected for transmission and reception of data.
