Each image signal line S is connected alternately to a plurality of sub-pixels P positioned on one side of the image signal line S and a plurality of sub-pixels P positioned on the other side. During one frame period, image signals having either one of the positive and negative polarities are input to the first, third, fourth, and sixth image signal lines S, S, S, and Sof the eight image signal lines Sto Sthat constitute a unit array of the image signal lines during one frame period, while image signals having the other polarity are input to the remaining image signal lines S, S, S, and S. According to this liquid crystal display device, it is possible to prevent flicker in image and to prevent the common electrode position from becoming different from the base potential, while preventing increase of power consumption.

A color filter layer includes a first filter, a second filter, and a third filter of different colors. Further, the color filter layer includes a fourth filter of a color same as that of one of the three filters, and a black matrix partitioning the four filters. A hole is formed on the fourth filter. The hole extends in the direction along the first line portion of the black matrix, and the first line portion forms a part of the edge of the hole. With this structure, it is possible to prevent variation in the area ratio of a hole formed in the fourth sub-pixel for improving brightness in a liquid crystal display panel.

Liquid crystal display panel

A liquid crystal display device includes a backlight device, a liquid crystal panel and a light source unit. The light source unit includes a case having an opening surface, a fluorescent tube, an electric holder, and a cover member. The cover member includes a shield plate, a fixed groove and an overhanging portion, wherein the overhanging portion is provided at an edge of the fixed groove and on a side of the liquid crystal panel with respect to the fluorescent tube which includes a portion which extends through the fixed groove. A portion of the cover member includes a protrusion which is a separate member from the overhanging portion and which extends more toward the liquid crystal panel than a surface portion of the overhanging portion.

Liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display including a blink backlight system light source and a liquid crystal panel for adjusting the amount of light transmitted from the light source. The light source is made of a plurality of light emitting tubes each having one or more kinds of phosphors, and having a turned-on state and a turned-off state within one frame. A luminance factor area of light from each of the phosphors is substantially equal to that of light from any other phosphor in at least one of a luminance rise time when the light source changes from the turned-off state to the turned-on state and a luminance fall time when the light source changes from the turned-on state to the turned-off state.
