A method of producing a transdermal absorption sheet includes: filling needle-like recessed portions of a mold with a drug solution that is a polymer solution containing a drug; drying the drug solution filling the needle-like recessed portions to form a drug layer containing the drug; supplying a polymer layer forming solution to the mold, the mold provided with a step portion that has a height different from a height of a region in which the needle-like recessed portion is formed in a periphery of the region in which the needle-like recessed portion is formed in a range of equal to or greater than the step portion as seen from above, and then fixing a contact position of the polymer layer forming solution and the mold to the step portion while reducing the polymer layer forming solution; and drying the polymer layer forming solution to form a polymer layer.

Method of producing transdermal absorption sheet

A method of producing a transdermal absorption sheet including: preparing a mold having needle-like recessed portions including tapered inlet portions; preparing a liquid feeder including an opening portion and a lip land portion; filling the needle-like recessed portions with a solution by feeding the solution to the mold and moving the liquid feeder in a traveling direction while bringing an upstream end of the lip land portion on an upstream side of the liquid feeder in the traveling direction into contact with the mold; and forming needle portions and a sheet portion using a polymer solution. In the filling of the solution, when the upstream end of the lip land portion on the upstream side aligns with an upstream side inlet surface of one of the needle-like recessed portions, the shortest distance from a downstream side inlet surface of the needle-like recessed portion to a surface of the lip land portion on the upstream side is 220 &#x3bc;m or less.

The method includes the steps of: preparing a mold and a liquid filling device; and filling needle-like recessed portions with a liquid medicine by repeating the following: a filling operation in which the liquid medicine is supplied to the mold from the liquid filling device and the needle-like recessed portions are filled with the liquid medicine while a nozzle tip is brought into pressed contact with a surface of the mold; and a moving operation in which a nozzle is relatively moved with respect to the mold while the nozzle tip and the surface of the mold are in contact with each other, wherein the nozzle is held in a Z-axis drive unit configured to vertically move the nozzle while an elastic body is provided in the Z-axis drive unit, while the nozzle tip is brought into pressed contact with the surface of the mold.

Method of manufacturing sheet with needle like protrusions

A die of a coating apparatus for applying a coating solution includes down- and upstream blocks in a feeding direction of a web, which respectively have a first lip and a second lip. A lip land of the first lip is shorter than a lip land of the second lip in the feeding direction so as to satisfy a predetermined condition. In assembling the coating apparatus, bottoms of down- and upstream blocks are fixed to a fixer with bolts. Between the fixer and the downstream block, a plate member is provided such that the first lip land protrudes from the second lip land.

Apparatus and method for applying coating solution, die and method for assembling thereof

The mounting is formed by grinding an integrally molded material with accuracy of the &#x3bc;m order. An upper portion of the mounting is an L-shaped holding portion on which a slot die is positioned. An upper face of the holding portion contacts a lower face of the slot die, and a side face of the holding portion contacts a rear face of the slot die. The lower and rear faces of the slot die and the upper and side faces of the holding portion are formed to have such a straightness for the total length that the unevenness thereof may be in 5 &#x3bc;m. Thus the slot die can be held with high accuracy, and the clearance accuracy between the lips and a web can be increased.

Coating apparatus and coating method

In a coating apparatus, a nozzle connects a feed pipe for feeding a coat solution to a manifold of a die with an opening of the manifold. The nozzle satisfies conditions: 1.5&lE;B/A&lE;5.0 and 0.8&lE;C/B&lE;8.0, when A is an equivalent diameter of an end of the nozzle to be connected with the tube, B is an equivalent diameter of another end of the nozzle to be connected with the opening, and C is a length of the nozzle. The coat solution fed from the feed pipe enters in the nozzle. In the nozzle, the coating solution diverges along with an inner wall of the nozzle to enter into the manifold. In the manifold the coating solution flows in a widthwise direction and flows out through a slit extending from the manifold to a lip of the die, such that a moving web is coated with the coating solution uniformly.

A method to obtain and keep, at the time of actual coating, a uniform charge distribution on a web that is to be subsequently coated in order to establish stable high-speed coating provides a higher resistivity in a web edge area than that in a web central area by applying a subbing layer to the web central area while leaving the edge area free of the subbing layer.

Use of subbing layer in web coating

In curtain coating for multiple layers consisting of lower most layer, uppermost layer and intermediate layer, using coating liquid having viscosity more than 300 mPas for one layer or more of multiple layers improves amazingly the curtain coating stability against disturbance such as passing spliced portion of running web. The one layer or more layers for which coating liquid having viscosity more than 300 mPas is to be used is selected from intermediate layer. The curtain coating stability is further improved by combining the high viscosity coating liquid for intermediate layer with other technologies such as electrifying web, heating web upstream of coating point and/or keeping web tension higher than some specified value.

Method of curtain coating

A coating system selecting kinds of coating heads and operation sequences with no errors even when two or more kinds of coating heads are used in exchange in a single coating line. The coating system uses an automatic discriminating device which automatically discriminates at least kinds of a plurality of coating heads used in exchange in a single coating line, thereby discriminating the kind of the coating head which is set in the coating line.

In a simultaneous coating of multiple layers on a web using a slide hopper type coating apparatus, the gelatin concentration of the coating liquid for the bottom layer is set to be lower than the gelatin concentration of the coating liquid for the middle layer by at least 2 points in percentage, the ratio A/B, which is the flow amount ratio of the coating liquid for the bottom layer with respect to the entire multi-layered coating liquid, is set to be between 0.05 and 0.2, and the ratio C/D, which is the viscosity ratio between the coating liquid for the bottom layer and the coating liquid of the middle layer, is set to be between 0.2 and 0.67. Thereby, the flow of the multi-layered coating liquid flowing down on the slide surface can be stabilized.

Method for coating a running web with a plurality of coating layers

The curtain coating apparatus of the invention comprises a sliding face on which a coating solution flows down, a coating width regulating plate which is located on each of both sides of the sliding face and regulates the width of the flow of the coating solution, and an edge guide which is connected to the width regulating plate, and keeps both side edges of free falling stream of the coating solution from the sliding face, wherein a contact angle of water with the coating width regulating plate is greater than a contact angle of water with the edge guide, and the apparatus has solved problems of streaks and uneven thickness at side end portions of a free falling film caused by contraction and teapot phenomenon (residence), by changing wett properties at a coating width regulating plate and an edge guide.

Curtain coating apparatus

The coating apparatus has an air shielding device to prevent a curtain of coating liquids, which free-falls from a coating head, from being disturbed by an air carried along by a traveling web. The coating apparatus also has a device to move the air shielding device. Before and at the start of coating, the air shielding device is kept far from an impingement position where the free-falling curtain impinges onto the web. Just after the start of coating, the air shielding device is moved close to the impingement position. This prevents the air shielding device from being contaminated with splashes of the coating liquids, and the like.

Coating method and apparatus including an air shielding device

Before the start of coating, a deflector receives a curtain of a coating liquid free-falling from a coating hopper in order to prevent a continuously-running web from being coated with the coating liquid. At the start of the coating, the deflector is moved relatively to the coating hopper, so that the coating liquid can start to be applied to the web. A receding part is formed at the end of the deflector.

Curtain coating apparatus and method

A curtain coating apparatus includes a hopper with a slide plane on which the coating solution flows and a hopper lip from where the coating solution begins to freely fall down as a free falling curtain. The apparatus also includes at least a pair of outlets disposed in a position along the edge part of the free falling curtain and situated at a fixed distance down from the hopper lip. Auxiliary solutions are introduced from the width directions so as to maintain the curtain in the width direction.
