A continuously-fed flat tube is cut into sub tubes each having a given length. The flat tube has multiple ports therein. A pair of roller cutters are enabled to follow the flat tube at a zero relative speed between the roller cutters and the flat tube. The roller cutters are moved across portions of the flat tube respectively to cut the flat tube while the roller cutters are enabled to follow the flat tube at the zero relative speed. At least one of the roller cutters enters the flat tube by a depth equal to or greater than a half of a distance between outer flat surfaces of the flat tube while the roller cutters are moved across the portions of the flat tube.

Method and apparatus for cutting flat tube

A cutting device capable of obtaining high speeds, approximately three times faster than known cutting devices by using a structure employing an internal positive cam. A rotary slider rotates upon rotation of a spline shaft via a gearbox, and the operation is such that a track of a wedge-shaped blade tip of a male cutter lies along a workpiece via cam followers slidably rotating over a sliding surface of an internal positive cam, cutting the workpiece.

Cutting device

A filter element of the present invention provides low pressure loss, superior filter performance and bonding of filtering material, and compactness. An inlet path of a nearly semicircular configuration which is formed in the width direction of a filter element is open at its upper side and closed at its lower side. An outlet path is closed at its upper side and open at its lower side. Corrugated filtering material has continuous mountain portions and valley portions. The mountain portions have a large radius of curvature R1, and the valley portions have a small radius of curvature R2. The valley portions are bonded to a flat filtering material. The open surface area of the inlet path is larger than the closed surface area of the outlet path 16. Preferably, R1/R2 is set so as to be within the range of 1.5 to 3.0.

Filter element having a flat and non-flat configuration

A method for manufacturing filter elements, in which sealant does not get onto the rolling claw and rolling of the roll filter paper is made easy. A long roll filter paper having laterally oriented filter parts for filtering, the filter parts being open on the inflow side of the roll filter paper and closed on the outflow side of the roll filter paper, is rolled. During rolling, a sealant is applied to the surface of the roll filter paper in a narrow longitudinal strip, in such a way that the sealant does not make contact with the rolling claw. The roll-start end of the roll filter paper is gripped with the rolling claw during rolling. The rolling claw is made up of 2 or 4 rolling bars having the shape of the parts produced when a cylinder is split into two halves along its axis.

Filter element and manufacture method thereof

A tape like material including synthetic resin for a filter element is bent into a corrugated pattern while the material is passed between pairs of forming and cutting rollers. Since pairs of cutters are provided within the rollers and since guide plates are provided around the rollers, the material is held abutting the rollers even when the material is cut by the cutters. The material is then conveyed within a reducing drum. The pitch of the corrugated portions formed on the material is reduced and the material is formed into a semicircular shape within the reducing drum. After passed the reducing drum, the material is transferred to a forming path. Since the forming path has an introducing portion having a semicircular sectional shape similar to that of the material leaving the reducing drum, an outlet portion having a circular sectional shape similar to that of the finished filter element and an intermediate portion having a sectional shape gradually varied from the shape of the introducing portion to the shape of the outlet portion, the material is shaped to a complete circle while the material travels along the forming path. A crystal type filter element is thus formed from a tape like material automatically.

Method and apparatus for forming filter element

An apparatus for aligning and feeding elongated pieces, having a rotary drum which is provided on one side of a passage of the elongated pieces extending in the lengthwise direction thereof and which is rotatable about an axis parallel to the passage. The drum has peripheral receiving grooves spaced from one another at a constant pitch. A pushing cam is located in front of the drum to push the elongated pieces into the receiving grooves of the drum one by one. Below the drum are provided threaded shafts having spiral grooves for receiving the elongated pieces from the drum and conveying them in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the rotation of the drum. An aligning wall is provided on one side of the threaded shafts to align the elongated pieces during the conveyance thereof.

Aligning and feeding apparatus for elongated pieces

An apparatus performing a filter from a material for a filter element automatically and quickly. The filter made by the present apparatus has a plurality of wavy portions which are provided in such a manner that a plurality of wavy portions forms a circle. The apparatus employs a contracting apparatus for contracting a continuously corrugated strip of material for a filter element in such a manner that a distance between adjacent ridges of the corrugated strip is reduced so that the corrugated strip becomes the wavy portion of the filter. The apparatus also employs a rounding apparatus for rounding the continuously corrugated strip in such a manner that both ends of the strip are connected to each other so that the wavy portions made from the corrugated strip form a circle. The apparatus further employs a shaping apparatus for shaping the rounded continuously corrugated strip so that the rounded strip becomes the filter.

Apparatus for making a filter from a material for a filter element

A device for supplying a long length of a material such as a metal strip, wire, thread, and the like, having an accumulator between a material supply source which holds and supplies the material and a feeding mechanism which feeds the material to the following process. The accumulator is provided with first rollers pivotally mounted on a fixed bridge, and second rollers pivotally mounted on a movable bridge. The movable bridge moves up and down relative to the fixed bridge. The material supplied from the supply source is passed alternately over the first rollers and second rollers in such a manner that it is led straight up and down, and is then fed to the feeding mechanism. A controlling mechanism controls the material supply source to feed the material, or to stop the feeding, according to the position of the movable bridge.

Device for supplying a long length of material

Disclosed is a device by which a defective product is removed from a path through which products are continually fed. The device has a feeder feeding products, a sensor detecting defective products, and a remover taking the defective products from the path. The sensor outputs a signal denoting a defect in either the trailing half of a first product or the leading half of an adjacent second product. The remover has a function for obtaining the number which is a quotient obtained by dividing the distance between the sensor and the remover by the length of a normal product. The remover takes out the defective and the adjacent product when the number of products passing the remover is equal to the quotient obtained by the above calculation.

Method and device for removing defective products

A loading device including a frame, a stopper provided along the path through which the products are fed to the predetermined location, a threaded column supported in the frame and rotating in such a manner that the upper surfaces of the threads thereof move clockwise in a direction toward the stopper, a motor rotating the threaded column, and a conveyer supplying the product to the threaded column in such a manner that the product is engaged with the portion between the screw threads. The threaded column has external screw threads turning in a direction toward the predetermined location when the threaded column rotates. The portion between the screw threads receives the product to urge the product along by frictional force from the rotation of the threaded column until the end of the product butts against the stopper. This portion also feeds the product to the predetermined location while urging the end of the product against the stopper.
