Provided is a thermosensitive recording medium being excellent in oil resistance among various performances required for the thermosensitive recording medium, and being further excellent in heat resistance, plasticizer resistance, and printing (recording) run-ability. That is a thermosensitive recording medium having a thermosensitive recording layer comprising a colorless or pale colored electron donating leuco dye and an electron accepting color developing agent on a substrate, wherein the thermosensitive recording layer contains at least two kinds of urea compounds. The two kinds of urea compounds comprise the first urea compound being represented by the following general formula 1, and the second urea compound being represented by the following general formula 2. wherein Rrepresents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, aralkyl group or aryl group, and Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, wherein Rto Rrepresent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a nitro group, an amino group, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, and the like, and m represents an integer of 0 to 2.

Thermosensitive recording medium

Provided is a thermosensitive recording medium having a sufficient water resistance to moisture and humidity, such as for outdoor use in rainy weather and the like, and also having a superior color developing sensitivity, print image quality when printing at high speed, ink fixability and solvent resistance and the like. As the protective layer comprises a specific silane-modified acrylic resin which is an aqueous emulsion of core-shell type p articles, in a thermosensitive recording medium having a thermosensitive recording layer on a substrate and a protective layer on the thermosensitive recording layer, the thermosensitive re cording medium has a sufficient water resistance and also has a superior color developing sensitivity, print image quality when printing at high speed, ink fixability and solvent resistance and the like.

The present invention provides a thermosensitive recording medium having a high degree of water resistance and excellent surface qualities. The thermosensitive recording medium has a thermosensitive recording layer comprising a colorless or pale colored basic leuco dye and an electron accepting developing agent on a substrate, but does not have a protective layer on the thermosensitive recording layer, and the thermosensitive recording layer further comprises (i) a carboxy-modified polyvinyl alcohol as a binder, (ii) an epichlorohydrin resin and a modified polyamine/amide resin (excluding those contained in the category of epichlorohydrin resin) as crosslinking agents, and (iii) an acrylic resin with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of lower than or equal to 50 degree C. and a minimum film forming temperature (MFT) of higher than or equal to 40 degree C.

Provided is a thermosensitive recording medium having excellent oil resistance among various performances required for the thermosensitive recording medium. The thermosensitive recording medium has a thermosensitive recording layer comprising a colorless or pale colored electron donating leuco dye and an electron accepting color developing agent on a substrate, wherein the thermosensitive recording layer contains N-[2-(3-phenylureido)phenyl] benzenesulfonamide and an urea-based compound represented by the general formula 1 as the electron accepting color developing agents, wherein Rrepresents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, aralkyl group or aryl group, and Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group.

The objective of the present invention is to provide a thermosensitive recording medium excellent in color developing property, especially excellent in bar code readability, under severe environment. Provided is a thermosensitive recording medium having a thermosensitive recording layer comprising a colorless or pale colored electron donating leuco dye and an electron accepting color developing agent on a substrate, wherein the thermosensitive recording layer contains a specific sulfone compound and a specific urea-urethane-based compound in a specific ratio.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a thermosensitive recording medium with an increased gloss in the blank and printed portions, excellent color developing sensitivity and excellent printing run-ability, particularly excellent printing run-ability at high-speed printing. Provided is a thermosensitive recording medium having a thermosensitive recording layer comprising a colorless or pale colored basic leuco dye and an electron accepting color developing agent, an intermediate layer and a gloss layer as an outermost layer in this order on a substrate, wherein the intermediate layer is formed by containing a carboxyl group-containing resin and the gloss layer is formed by containing a long chain alkyl group-containing resin and an emulsion type silicone copolymer resin. The long chain alkyl group-containing resin is preferably an acrylic resin containing long-chain alkyl group(s) and the silicone copolymer resin is preferably a silicone-acryl copolymer resin and/or a silicone-urethane copolymer resin.

The present invention provides a compound represented by the formula (1). The compound represented by the formula (1) is a developing agent superior in both color-developing sensitivity with low energy and image stability [in the following formula, wherein Ris a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group, 

Phenolsulfonic acid aryl ester, developing agent, and heat-sensitive recording material

The invention provides a phenolsulfonic acid aryl ester represented by formula (1) wherein each symbol is as defined in the description. The phenolsulfonic acid aryl ester is useful as a developer to provide a thermal recording material with good color-developing sensitivity, image density when printed at a low application energy (i.e., high start-up sensitivity), and heat and plasticizer resistance. The invention also provides a thermal recording material using the developer.

The present invention present a thermosensitive recording medium having excellent printed image quality on a thermosensitive recording surface, particularly for bar code readability, and also good record density and recording property after storage. In a thermosensitive recording medium obtained by installing on a substrate a thermosensitive recording layer containing a colorless or pale electron donating leuco dye and an electron accepting coloring agent, the water drop absorbency of the surface on which a thermosensitive recording layer is installed on said substrate is adjusted to at least 50 seconds by having at least 5 wt. % of mechanical pulp present in the substrate and controlling the sizing agent treatment of the substrate.

The present invention provides a thermosensitive recording medium with excellent color developing sensitivity, moist heat resistance and plasticizer resistance, as well as excellent heat resistance, background coloring, light resistance and the like in the printed image. A diphenyl sulfone derivative containing a hydroxyl group on one end and an alkoxy group on the other end has a higher melting point than the one containing hydroxyl groups on both ends. As a result, the thermosensitive recording medium obtained using the diphenyl sulfone derivative as the color developing agent in the thermosensitive color developing layer has excellent heat resistance. However the color developing sensitivity of the thermosensitive recording medium generally declines simultaneously, when a color developing agent with a high melting point is ordinarily used. The thermosensitive recording medium of the present invention that uses a combination of the diphenyl sulfone derivative and a specific phenol derivative in the thermosensitive color developing layer has a good color developing sensitivity and an improved balance among the properties such as moist heat resistance, plasticizer resistance and the like.

The present invention provides a thermosensitive recording medium, which has a satisfactory color developing sensitivity, an excellent general printability (surface strength) and an excellent anti-sticking property. The thermosensitive recording layer of the thermosensitive recording medium of the present invention contains an alkylketene dimer. Without forming a protecting layer, the thermosensitive recording medium of the present invention is superior in color developing sensitivity, general printability (surface strength) and anti-sticking property.

The present invention is a thermally sensitive recording medium containing a thermally sensitive color developing layer containing a colorless or pale colored basic leuco dye and a color-developing agent as the main components on a substrate, wherein the thermally sensitive recording layer contains an acrylic polymer obtained by the copolymerization of an alkyl acrylate, alkyl methacrylate and vinylsilane as monomer components and a colloidal. Further, the present invention is a thermally sensitive recording medium, wherein the colloidal silica possesses a chain structure.

Heat-sensitive recording material

A thermally recording sheet which has high sensitivity in color development, satisfactory background heat resistance, and a satisfactory background color. The sheet contains a dihydroxydiphenylsulfone compound represented by general formula (1) as a color developer and a sulfonamide represented by general formula (2). In the formula, R and R each represents C alkyl, alkenyl, or halogeno; and a and b each is an integer of 0 to 3. In the formula, R represents C alkyl or electron-attracting group; and n is an integer of 0 to 2.
