A shielded connector (A) has a housing () for accommodating terminal fittings () connected with ends of wires (). A metallic shielding shell () is provided in the housing (), and a tubular connecting member () connects an end of the shield () and the shielding shell (). Thus, the shielding shell () can be connected with grounding members of a mating housing when the housing () is connected with the mating housing. Thus, it is not necessary to connect the shield () with the grounding members in addition to a connecting operation of the housing ().

Shielded connector

A shielded connector (A) is used with a conductive path (B) that has wires () extending beyond an end of a conductive shield (). The shielded connector (A) has a housing () for accommodating terminal fittings () connected with ends of the wires (). The wires () are surrounded by a conductive shield (). A conductive tube () connects an end of the shield () and the shielding shell () and surrounds the wires (). An insulating wire cover () is disposed between the conductive tube () and the wires (). The insulating coating of the wires () could be peeled off to expose a conductor inside. However, the wire cover () prevents electrical contact of such a conductor and the conductive tube ().

A resilient contact 11 rise upwards diagonally towards the open end of an electrical terminal. A supporting member 11b is formed by folding an end of the contact 11 downwards and making the end of this folded over portion make contact with the base face of the protecting cover B. By these means, even if the point of contact is set towards the open end, the contact force can be maintained, and the rising member 11a is supported by the supporting member 11b when bending.

Female terminal fitting

A pair of resilient contacts 12 facing each other are made into a C shape. The base end of each contact 12 connects to a tubular member 11. In this manner, the contact 12 has a strengthening wall 13 formed along the direction of bending. Thus when a male terminal fitting C is inserted between the contacts 12, the strengthening walls 13 bend in a direction that is parallel to the wall face and consequently an increased clamping force can be provided notwithstanding that the thickness of the terminal material is not great. Miniaturization of the terminal is facilitated.

A protecting cover B is provided for a miniature terminal, the upper face having a lance 41 formed by shearing. This lance 41 has a pair of protecting members 42 located in the posterior side thereof, the posterior edges of the protecting members 42 being cut so as to form diagonal edges with respect to the direction of extension of the lance 41. In this way, a portion of the bending space formed under the lance 41 is surrounded by the protecting member 42, thereby preventing entry of foreign matter. As a result, bending and entanglement can be prevented. The cover may have a protruding wall 43 to provide additional protection against external forces.

Terminal fitting

A protective cover B of an electrical terminal is partitioned into an upper cover 50 and a lower cover 40. By doing this, the upper cover 50 and the lower cover 40 can be simultaneously bent prior to fitting. The upper cover 50 has its left and right edges bent perpendicular downwards, the left and right side plates having supporting holes 54 formed thereon. The lower cover 40 has a pair of fitting members 41 and crimping members 42 protruding therefrom, the fitting members 41 having supporting protrusions 43,44 fitting with the supporting holes 54,15 formed on the upper cover 50 and the terminal main body A.
