The invention has as its object to selectively reproduce on an external apparatus apart of digital data with index that a user wants to reproduce out of the digital data being made up of audio data and/or video data without having to use an application program dedicated for the external apparatus. The present invention is characterized in that in a case that a data file linked with a position information file is to be transmitted to the external apparatus, there are provided a data file divider which performs division processing on the data file on the basis of predetermined positions on the time axis of the digital data specified by the position information to thereby create a plurality of divided data files and a data file transmitter for transmitting the divided data files created by the data file divider to the external apparatus.

The present invention provides a data recording device which starts recording data a to a memory A when a command is given to start recording data. When the remaining capacity of the memory A is not greater than a given capacity value x, data recording to the memory A is concurrent with data recording to a memory B. When the capacity of the memory A is full, recording data x to the memory A is ceased. Thereafter, when a command is given to cease an operation for recording data to the memory B, an inquiry is made as to whether space capacity of the memory B is greater than an amount of data a of the memory A. Data recording device and method to continuously write data across memories without data omission

A disk playback device including a memory for temporarily storing data from a pickup and outputting the data as delayed by a predetermined period of time, manual keys, and a system control circuit for detecting the playback end of a disk from the playback data from the pickup. The memory has connected thereto an erase circuit for erasing data remaining in the memory. The system control circuit produces different flag values in a first case wherein the control circuit detects the disk end to terminate playback of the disk and in a second case wherein the user manipulates one of the manual keys to terminate the playback. A memory control circuit is connected to the memory and the system control circuit. In the first case, the memory control circuit inputs to the memory playback data of another disk replacing the disk as continued from the data remaining in the memory. In the second case, the circuit inputs to the memory the playback data of another disk replacing the preceding disk after the data remaining in the memory is erased by the erase circuit.

Disk playback device and method of continuously playing back disks without a break in sound reproduction

A system control circuit checks a memory for data therein through a memory control circuit upon a pickup reaching the end of the disk. When at least a predetermined quantity of data remains in the memory, signaling sound generating means produces a signaling sound three times and a display portion is caused to flash. On the other hand, if the quantity of data remaining in the memory is not greater than a predetermined amount, the sound generating means produces a prolonged signaling sound once and causes the display portion to flash. The display operation is terminated if no disk change is made within a specified period of time thereafter.
