An image forming system comprises means for image forming program modules one for each task and a plurality of monitor means for controlling a program. A predetermined one of the monitor means divides the program modules into blocks in accordance with a control mode, controls the blocks and controls the program in cooperation with the plurality of monitor means.

An image processing system includes a plurality of memories for storing (1) a procedure control program and (2) a task program for automatic closed loop control. Each program is grouped into a plurality of groups of programs in response to one of a plurality of selectable stages corresponding to priority required to execute an image processing. Each group of programs is task scheduled and one of the stages is selected. The task schedule is controlled in response to the selected stage and the group of programs is supervised corresponding to the selected stage.

Thus, the photosensitive medium may be prevented from deterioration due to falling temperature and moisture absorption, thereby permitting a normal image formation to be achieved.

One of several corona dischargers used in an electrophotographic apparatus is connected to a power source transformer so as to selectively operate these corona dischargers. The power source transformer is provided with a tertiary winding, to which a switching device is connected. When the switching device is turned on, a secondary output from the transformer becomes lower than a corona discharging limit voltage, whereby the corona discharging stops.

A device for detecting a body comprises transmitter means, receiver means for receiving the signal from the transmitter means, means for setting the level of a reference signal by the reception signal from the receiver means provided when the body is in a reference condition, to correct the reference signal, which reference signal provides a reference for identifying the reception signal, and comparator means for identifying the reception signal in accordance with the reference level connected to the reference level setting means. The control means is operable to cause application of a full power of the power source to the heat sink at the initial heating stage thereof and application of a partial power of the power source to the heat sink when the temperature thereof is in the vicinity of the required temperature.
