An autonomic nervous activity monitor capable of predicting occurrence of abnormal reaction depending on autonomic nervous activity and used for medical practice and the like is provided. A blood component collecting apparatuscarries out frequency analysis to a pattern of heartbeat which is acquired by an ECGfrom a donor, and calculates a high frequency component value [msec] defined as an indicator for parasympathetic activity and a ratio value of a low frequency component to the high frequency component defined as an indicator for sympathetic activity to detect a change in these values on a time-series base. When a judgment circuitpredicts that abnormal reaction may occur to a donor after blood collection operation is started, a controllercontrols a pumpto decrease a blood drawing or blood returning speed, or, to stop blood drawing or blood returning operation.

An object is to provide a blood component collection system capable of collecting a desired blood component of high quality. A blood component collection systemcomprises a centrifugal separatorcentrifuging blood into a plurality of components, first linefor feeding the blood to the centrifugal separator, a second linefor releasing the blood component from the centrifugal separator, a temporary reservoir bag' for temporarily reserving the platelet concentrate, a leukoreduction filterfor separating and reducing leukocyte from the platelet concentrate, and a platelet collection bagfor reserving the platelet concentrate having passed through the leukoreduction filter. The blood component collection systemis constructed to feed the platelet concentrate in the temporary reservoir bag&#x2032; to the platelet collection bagthrough the leukoreduction filter, and then, feed plasma and collect the platelet remaining in the leukoreduction filter(platelet concentrate from which leukocyte have been reduced) together with the plasma into the platelet collection bag

Blood component collection method

Platelets are collected from blood by delivering blood from a blood source to a centrifugal separator and operating the separator to separate plasma from the blood. The separated plasma is collected in a plasma collecting bag. After a predetermined amount of plasma has been collected in the bag, the plasma is circulated between the bag and the separator. That procedure is repeated at least once to build-up the amount of collected blood. Then platelets are collected by delivering additional blood to the separator and circulating plasma between the separator and the plasma collecting bag at an accelerating circulation rate while rotating the rotor to remove platelets from the separator. The platelets are collected in a platelet collecting bag. Then, blood remaining in the separator is returned to the blood source.
