A printing method is shown in which printing quality is improved when superimposed thermal-transfer recording is performed. According to the present invention, at least one of a plurality of thermal-transfer media is made of a material of different thermal characteristics from the remaining media. Different thermal-transfer media thermal characteristics are obtained by changing the thickness, melting point or viscosity of the thermal-transfer ink on the thermal transfer media, or by changing the thickness, quality of material or density of the base material of the thermal-transfer media.

Printing method

An image displaying device uses a thermal head to selectively create a magnetization pattern on an endless belt magnetic recording medium according to a signal applied thereto by heating the magnetic recording medium to its Curie temperature. Polarized light is then passed through or reflected from the belt and fed to an analyzer to obtain an image.

The orthogonal conductors in a magnetic bubble display device each extend in only one direction across the magnetic medium and carry current in only one direction. Sector shaped recesses are formed between conductors for holding the bubbles.

A recording and copying device capable of producing multiple copies from an original image using a single readout operation, while simultaneously being capable of reversing the image or shifting the image as desired. A photosensitive belt is provided having a light-shielding layer thereon capable of being fluidized or sublimated by heating. This layer is selectively heated by a thermal recording head, after which heated portions are removed by a transfer belt. The exposed photosensitive portions of the belt are then exposed and developed using toner particles, and the developed image transferred to a recording sheet.

A transfer type heat-sensitive recording medium having a porous base impregnated with a colorless color former. A layer of thermally melting ink is formed on one side of the porous base. The first layer is brought into contact with a recording sheet. A layer of thermally melting wax containing a color developer is formed on the opposite side of said porous base and selectively heated according to a video signal. The wax melts and permeates into the porous base to allow the color developer to color on reaction with the colorless color former. The wax layer is further heated by thermal irradiating so that the ink of the ink layer is molten in correspondence to the coloring.

A heat-sensitive printer is provided with an apparatus for effecting the stoppage of a travelling ink donor sheet as soon as a recording sheet can be separated therefrom of the printing, in order to economize the consumption of the donor sheet.

Copying machine

A copying machine includes an optical sensor of the line scanning type for converting an image into electrical signals, and a thermal recording head controlled in accordance with the image signals. The platen moves with respect to the read unit and the read unit will read in both forward and reverse directions of the platen, and the magnification value can be varied. The total width of energized heating elements and the movement length and speed of the platen may be controlled in accordance with the size of the original. The total number of heating elements energized at any one time is limited, and the machine includes input and output terminals for sending image information externally and for receiving and recording image information other than directly from the read unit.

A stencil paper for mimeography is disclosed. The paper is comprised of a porous base which is permeable to mimeographic ink, having thereon a heat-sensitive layer of a material that is solid at ordinary temperatures but which liquifies upon heating. A process for making a stencil is also disclosed, which comprises placing the stencil paper in contact with a receiving medium and selectively heating the stencil paper to liquify portions of the heat-sensitive layer, and allowing the liquified portions of the heat-sensitive layer to transfer to the receiving medium.

A device for recording predetermined magnetization patterns on a magnetic recording medium such as for use in a copying machine. The magnetic medium is first magnetized with a uniform magnetization pattern then passed to a thermal printing head upon which a number of heat generating elements are arranged one-dimensionally on a supporting substrate. The heat generating elements are selectively activated to heat the recording magnetic medium to a temperature greater than the Curie temperature thereof so as to change the direction of the magnetization of the magnetic medium in cooperation with a biasing magnetic field.

In a magnetic latent image forming apparatus the magnetization of the medium is initially set and portions of the medium, selected in accordance with image data, are then heated to temperatures below the Curie temperature of the medium. Before the medium cools, a bias magnetic field is applied to magnetize the heated portions.

The thermorecording medium is comprised of a support having coated thereon a plurality of heat-sensitive ink materials each having a different melting point. The ink materials can be formed on strip supports wound on rolls which can be utilized by passing the medium close to a finely focused heat source while the inked side of the support is in contact with a recording sheet. The medium may be in the form of an endless belt which can be rotated within a device in such a manner that the medium is continuously reused.

Thermorecording medium, means and process for producing and utilizing

A stress absorbing roller is disposed in the travel path of the ink donor film in a heat transfer recording device. The roller is pivotable to compensate for alignment errors in the transport system, to thereby eliminate wrinkles in the donor film at the recording station.
