A communication connection apparatus controls connection of a communication line between a first and second communication devices comprising: a first connection port for the first communication device, including a first transmission unit through which a signal from the first communication device passes and a first reception unit through which a signal for the first communication device passes; a second connection port for the second communication device, including a second transmission unit through which a signal from the second communication device passes and a second reception unit through which a signal for the second communication device passes; a first connection line connecting the first transmission unit and the second reception unit; and a simulated-signal input unit that inputs a first signal to the first reception unit. On the first signal being input to the first reception unit, the first reception unit and the second transmission unit are physically disconnected.

High pressure discharge lamp lighting apparatus

It is an object of the present invention to provide a high pressure discharge lamp capable of shifting to arc discharge without going out at initial lighting. The object of the invention is achieved by a high discharge lamp in which mercury of 0.15 mg/mmis enclosed, and a power supply apparatus. The power supply apparatus comprises a chopper circuit including a switching element, and a smoothing circuit including at least one smoothing capacitor connected to an output terminal of the chopper circuit, and a feedback system control circuit which drives the switching element of the chopper circuit, wherein a parallel circuit comprising a resistor and a second switching circuit is in series connected to an output terminal of the smoothing circuit, and at least at time of initial lighting, the second switching circuit is turned off, and when the lamp is stabilized, the second switching element is turned on.

A short-arc ultra-high pressure mercury lamp in which the change in the shape of the electrodes can be suppressed and a stable arc discharge can always be produced is achieved in an arrangement in which, in the silica glass arc tube, there is a pair of opposed electrodes with a distance between them of at most 2 mm and the tube is filled with at least 0.15 mg/mmof mercury, a rare gas, and a halogen in the range from 1&#xd7;10&#x3bc;mole/mmto 1&#xd7;10&#x3bc;mole/mm, by at least one of the electrodes having a melt part formed toward the electrode tip by winding the electrode rod with a coil and by melting the part of the coil oriented towards the electrode tip at least in the area of its surface. A part of the coil located away from the electrode tip is unmelted and the base point side area of the coil facing away from the electrode tip is rounded and does not have sharp edges.

To positionally stabilize the arc spot in a super-high pressure discharge lamp which is filled with at least 0.20 mg/mmof mercury and to prevent the formation of so-called flicker, in an operation device having a high pressure discharge lamp and a feed device, the feed device of the high pressure discharge lamp supplies a frequency in the range from 60 Hz to 1000 Hz as the stationary operating frequency and a low frequency, in a frequency range of from 5 Hz to 200 Hz is inserted which has an inserted length of from one half period to five periods, and an inserting period of from 0.01 seconds to 120 seconds, into the alternating current of the stationary operating frequency. Furthermore, the parameters of the low frequency are changed according to changes of the operating voltage of the discharge lamp.

Further, the LC series connection, the main switching device and the fly-wheel diode are also series connected, with the auxiliary switching device being connected in parallel to the LC series connection.

A low cost DC&#x2014;DC converter which facilitates a reduction of the switching loss in a wide, variable range of the continuity ratio of the main switching device includes a direct current source; an ON-OFF-controllable main switching device; a main coil which is series connected to the main switching device; a fly-wheel diode which is arranged such that the induction current of the above described main coil flows when the main switching device is shifted into the OFF state; a smoothing capacitor for smoothing the output of the main coil; an auxiliary coil, a resonant capacitor and an ON-OFF-controllable auxiliary switching device. The main switching device and the auxiliary switching device are controlled such that each are alternatively shifted into the ON state such that the main switching device is shifted into the ON state within a given time after the auxiliary switching device has been shifted into the OFF state.

The feed device inserts the alternating current with the low frequency into the alternating current with the steady-state operating frequency with a time interval which has a length equal to at least one half period and at most to five periods, and the time interval being in the range of from 0.1 sec to 120 sec.

A low cost DC-DC converter facilitates a reduction of the switching loss in the wide, variable range of the continuity ratio for a main switching device. The DC-DC converter includes a direct current source, an ON-OFF-controllable main switching device, a main coil which is series connected to the main switching device, a fly-wheel diode which is arranged such that the induction current of the main coil flows when the main switching device is shifted into the OFF state, and a smoothing capacitor for smoothing the output of the main coil, Also included is an auxiliary transformer with a primary winding as a direct current source and a secondary winding. The main switching device and the auxiliary switching device are controlled such that they are shifted alternatively into the ON state, and the main switching device, is shifted into the ON state a given time after the auxiliary switching device has been shifted into the OFF state.

A short arc ultra-high pressure mercury lamp, at least one of the electrodes of which has a melted part towards the electrode head and a coil part which extends from the melted part continuously and integrally with it in a direction away from the electrode head, avoids blackening of the tube wall and achieves a long service life by the provision of a power supply which supplies the discharge lamp with direct current when operation is starting and afterwards supplies it with an alternating current, the direct current supplied by the power supply to the discharge lamp being initially 0.3 to 0.6 times as great as the rated current and afterwards increasing to 1.0 to 2.0 times are great as the rated current.

An ultra-high pressure high pressure discharge lamp device in which the lamp voltage and the distance between the lamp electrodes can be kept stable is achieved by an operating device supplying an alternating current with rectangular waves to the discharge lamp and control is exercised such that a lower boundary value is set and the operating voltage is increased by reducing the operating frequency of the discharge lamp by a given amount, when the operating voltage of the discharge lamp is below the set lower boundary value. Furthermore, control can also be exercised in such a way that an upper boundary value is set and the operating voltage is reduced by increasing the operating frequency of the discharge lamp by a given amount when the operating voltage of the discharge lamp exceeds the set upper boundary value.
