An electric vehicle includes a device which determines, on the basis of the gradient of a road surface, a target acceleration of the vehicle in the case where the operational states of an accelerator (gas) pedal and a brake pedal of the vehicle are an OFF state when the vehicle is traveling on a down-slope road, a device which determines the correction amount of a regenerative torque for bringing the actual acceleration of the vehicle close to the target acceleration, a device which determines a basic target torque of an electric motor, which becomes a regenerative torque when the operational state of the accelerator (gas) pedal is the OFF state, on the basis of the operational state of the accelerator (gas) pedal, and a device which determines a target torque by correcting the basic target torque on the basis of at least the aforesaid correction amount. The output torque of the electric motor is controlled to the determined target torque. Thus, when the electric vehicle travels on the down-slope road, the regenerative operation of the electric motor is accomplished such that an acceleration suited to the gradient of the road surface can be generated in the vehicle while minimizing the influences of disturbance factors.

A fuel cell system includes a fuel cell, an oxidant gas passage, a cathode off-gas passage, a fuel gas passage, a circulation passage, an anode off-gas passage, a fuel shutoff valve, a supply device, a humidifier and a control device. The supply device supplies a scavenging gas, which is for scavenging the fuel cell, to the anode and the cathode. The humidifier humidifies the scavenging gas. The control device controls the supply device when the fuel cell is turned off so that supply of the fuel gas to the anode is shut off and the scavenging gas is supplied to the anode and the cathode, wherein supply of the scavenging gas to the cathode is conducted through the humidifier.

A fuel cell system includes: a fuel cell in which electrical power generation is performed through chemical reactions of reaction gases being supplied thereto; a discharge path through which the reaction gases are discharged; a discharge valve provided on the discharge path and operated for discharging the reaction gases through the discharge path; an opening condition monitoring device for continuously monitoring a demanded opening condition of the discharge valve; and an opening condition renewing device for renewing the demanded opening condition of the discharge valve depending on the demanded opening condition of the discharge valve detected by the opening condition monitoring device when opening of the discharge valve is demanded. Opening of the discharge valve is controlled depending on the latest demanded opening condition which has been renewed by the opening condition renewing device.

Fuel cell system and method for discharging reaction gas from fuel cell

A reference electrode is provided adjacent to an anode of a membrane electrode assembly. The potential difference between the reference electrode and the anode is measured by a control unit. The control unit compares the measured value and a map of the anode potential difference stored in the control unit. When the measured value indicates a relation line which is different from a reference line indicating that the fuel gas is sufficient, it is judged that shortage of the fuel gas occurs.
