A vehicle exterior component includes a honeycomb structure having an inner plate portion arranged in the vicinity of an engine compartment, an outer plate portion arranged at an outer side of the inner plate portion, and a honeycomb portion held between the plate portions. The honeycomb portion includes a plurality of partition walls and a plurality of cells, which are separated from one another by the partition walls. Each of the partition walls of each cell has communication holes, to allow communication between the engine compartment and the interior space of the cell. Each partition wall has an absorbing portion. When external force acting inward is applied to the partition wall, the absorbing portion absorbs energy produced by the external force through deformation of the partition wall at positions corresponding to the peripheries of the communication holes, of the partition wall.

Vehicle exterior component

A resonator is arranged in an intake system including a pipe section for partitioning an intake port from an intake passage that communicates the intake port with a combustion chamber of an engine, the resonator including: a branch pipe having one end branching to the pipe section and the other end closed so that a silencing chamber is defined therein; and at least one partition wall for partitioning the silencing chamber into at least one pneumatic spring chamber, the partition wall having a natural frequency lower than the frequency of silencing target sound of intake noise propagated from the intake passage.

Resonator

A vehicle ventilation duct includes a duct body, a conduit, a sound absorption chamber, a transmission opening communicating the conduit with the sound absorption chamber, and an air-permeable member closing the transmission opening permeably. The duct body is disposed in a vehicle outer hull, and includes a frame having a ventilation opening opened to the outside of a vehicle and a valve element covering the ventilation opening openably and closably. The conduit is formed integrally with or independently of the duct body, is disposed on a vehicle-passenger-room side of the duct body, is communicated with the ventilation opening of the duct body, and is communicated with the inside of a vehicle passenger room, whereby enabling air inside and outside the vehicle to pass therethrough back and forth. Thus, the ventilation duct lets out air in the vehicle passenger room to the outside of the vehicle or vice versa.

Ventilation duct for vehicles

An air intake apparatus includes an air intake duct provided with an inlet through which intake air should be introduced, an air cleaner disposed on the downstream side of the air intake duct and for filtering the intake air, and an air cleaner hose disposed on the downstream side of the air cleaner and for supplying the filtered intake air to a combustion chamber of an engine, wherein an intake air passageway is laid out between the inlet and the combustion chamber. In a passageway wall surrounding an antinode of a lower resonance mode corresponding to the whole passageway length of the intake air passageway, a valve for opening a communicating path allowing the inside of the intake air passageway to communicate with the outside thereof at least when the lower resonance mode occurs, and an air-permeable member disposed to block the communicating path are disposed.

Air intake apparatus

A plurality of transmission ports which are respectively closed by air-permeable members are disposed in at least two members selected from among the intake duct, the air cleaner, and the air cleaner hose in the intake apparatus. Amounts of air permeation of the air-permeable members are set so as to be mutually different in order to tune intake sound generated from the inlet port and transmitted sound generated from each of the air-permeable members. In addition, a cleaner-incorporated member may be accommodated in the air cleaner, the cleaner-incorporated member having one end communicating with one of the intake duct and the air cleaner hose in such a manner as to be separated from an interior of the air cleaner and another end which is open in the interior of the air cleaner. An outer wall of the air cleaner is formed by a dual-use outer wall portion which also serves as an outer wall of the cleaner-incorporated member as well as an exclusive-use outer wall portion for forming only the air cleaner. The outer wall of the air cleaner has at least one transmission port which is formed in such a manner as to extend over the dual-use outer wall portion and the exclusive-use outer wall portion, and which is closed by an air-permeable member.

Intake apparatus

An engine cover has a cover body having a through hole penetrating both sides of the cover body in an area opposed to a resonant space in which resonant sounds are generated. An opening of the through hole is covered with the sound absorbing member layer. Because a part of the resonant space is open, resonant sounds generated in the resonance space are decreased.

Engine cover

An opening long in the longitudinal direction of a duct wall is formed. The whole of the opening is covered with non-woven fabric, and the lateral width of the opening is set to be not shorter than {fraction (1/20)} of the circumferential length of the duct wall. Alternatively, a porous member is thermally welded with the head of an opening of a small cylindrical portion projecting from the duct wall of a duct body , while the duct body is prevented from deformation. In a method for manufacturing the air take duct, a high-melting molded piece is brought into contact with a hot plate so as to be heated. A low-melting molded piece is disposed at a distance from the hot plate so as to be heated by radiation heat from the hot plate.

Air intake duct and manufacturing method therefor

At least a part of a duct wall of a suction duct is formed out of a molded body of non-woven fabric. The non-woven fabric contains a thermoplastic resin binder.

Suction duct

An intake duct for introducing outside air into an air cleaner of an internal combustion engine is provided which includes a hollow duct body with an opening, and a piece of non-woven fabric, formed in a flat shape, is joined to the duct body to close the opening. The duct body includes a circumferential wall formed of a resin, and the opening is formed along a plane extending through a portion of the circumferential wall. The piece of non-woven fabric is fixed to the duct body so that some of the resin of the duct body penetrates into the non-woven fabric.

Intake duct and method of producing the same

An intake air duct serves as a passage for supplying air to an engine, and includes a first intake air passage, a second intake air passage, an opening-and-closing valve, an interlocking member and a coiled spring. The opening-and-closing valve is disposed swingably in the second intake air passage so as to open and close the second intake air passage. The interlocking member is disposed outside the first intake air passage or the second intake air passage, and swings by interlocking with the swinging of the opening-and-closing valve. The coiled spring is disposed swingably outside the first intake air passage or the second intake air passage, and has a swinging end, which is brought into contact with a surface of the interlocking member. The swinging end slides on a surface of the interlocking member as the swinging of the interlocking member. The second intake air passage is opened by the opening-and-closing valve when a first urging force, which acts onto the coiled spring while the interlocking member swings so as to interlock with the opening-and-closing valve being swung in an opening direction by a negative pressure exerted in the second intake air passage, is larger than a second urging force, which is exerted by a spring elasticity of the coiled spring. The second intake air passage is closed when the first urging force is smaller than the second urging force.

Intake air duct

An intake duct capable of reducing intake noise when an engine runs at a low speed and supplying a sufficiently large amount of air when the engine runs at a high speed without using any electron control circuit or electromagnetic valve, which is produced at low costs. The intake duct includes valve adjusting means which restrains the movement of the valve member when the valve member brings a second intake passage from the closed state to the open state, and facilitates the movement of the valve member when the valve member brings the second intake passage from the open state to the closed state. When the second intake passage is brought to the open state from the closed state, the restraining force of the valve adjusting means is great to restrain the movement of the valve member, and when the second intake passage is brought to the closed state from the open state, the valve member readily pivots to open the second intake passage. Thus, the valve member is free from the half-closed state, and consequently, the generation of low-frequency booming noise can be prevented.

Intake duct

A liquid level gauge comprising a core disposed inside a liquid container that has a cross sectional configuration that varies in the direction of its height, the core extending in the vertical direction and isolated from the liquid, a coil wound around the core in the direction of the length of the core, the coil comprising a densely wound portion formed at one end of the core and a thinly wound portion wound around the remaining part of the core, a conductor ring disposed around the outer circumference of the coil and is movable in the direction of the length of the coil according to the liquid level inside the container, a detecting portion that detects the change in the inductance of the coil according to the displacement of the conductor ring, a transforming portion that transforms the change in the inductance of the coil to a change in an electric signal, and a display portion that displays the quantity of the liquid inside te container, corresponding to the electric signal, the thinly wound portion having a winding density that varies in steps along the length of the core and the display portion displaying a value proportional to the quantity of the liquid inside the container.

Liquid level gauge

A liquid level indicator for detecting a liquid level by utilizing the variation inductance of a coil having a core made of an electrical insulating magnetic material and provided inside a winding of the coil. The core may be made by piling a plurality of thin, plate-shaped conductive materials one on another in the cross-sectional direction of the coil so that they are insulated from each other or by winding a conductive magnetic material at least one turn in the form of a roll so that a closed loop current is not formed in the cross-sectional direction of the coil. An eddy current loss of the core so arranged is so small that it can be disregarded. Furthermore, the winding component of the core itself is substantially released in the equivalent circuit of the coil.

Liquid level indication device

A level gage mounting structure comprising a level gage secured to an upper member of a liquid storage container and vertically extending inside the container, the level gage having its lower end supported on the bottom surface of the container, and a deformable member provided between the upper member and the upper end of the level gage to support the upper end of the level gage, the deformable member being deformable vertically in unison with any vertical deformation of the upper and bottom surfaces of the container, thus enabling the lower end of the level gage to be in contact with the bottom surface of the container at all times.

Structure for mounting liquid level meter

A communication structure provided in a steering wheel. The steering wheel includes having a steering shaft; a boss fixed to it. At least one spoke fixed to the boss. A pad is installed relatively rotatably to the steering shaft at a position more proximate to the driver than the boss. A column is positioned in relation to the pad so that at least one of the spoke and a boss plate is sandwiched therebetween. At least one set of magnetic communication units composed of a receiving unit and a transmitting unit is provided on the pad and said column, at least one of which consists of a core and a coil wound thereon.
