An austenitic heat-resistant cast steel includes 0.1% to 0.6% by mass of C, 1.0% to 3.0% by mass of Si, 0.5% to 1.5% by mass of Mn, 0.05% by mass or less of P, 0.05% to 0.3% by mass of S, 9% to 16% by mass of Ni, 14% to 20% by mass of Cr, 0.1% to 0.2% by mass of N, and the balance of iron and inevitable impurities, in which a matrix structure of the austenitic heat-resistant cast steel is composed of austenite crystal grains, and a ferrite phase is dispersed and interposed between the austenite crystal grains so as to cover the austenite crystal grains.

Austenitic heat-resistant cast steel and method for manufacturing the same

This invention aims to provide a recycled magnesium alloy having a good corrosion resistance and a process for producing the same. The process of the present invention comprises an adjusting step of adjusting composition of molten metal of a magnesium alloy so as to comprise, by mass: Al: 5 to 10%, Zn: not less than 1% and not less than three times of Cu content (%), Mn: 0.1 to 1.5% and the remainder: Mg and impurities with or without one or more reforming elements. While the upper limit of the Al content is restricted to a low level, the Zn content is increased in accordance with the Cu content. Therefore, the recycled magnesium alloy produced by this process can effectively suppress corrosion caused by Cu, which is one of corrosion-causing elements.

An iron (Fe)-based austenitic heat-resistant cast steel includes, based on a total of 100 mass % (indicated below simply as '%'): 0.4 to 0.8% of carbon (C), 3.0% or less of silicon (Si), 0.5 to 2.0% of manganese (Mn), 0.05% or less of phosphorus (P), 0.03 to 0.2% of sulfur (S), 18 to 23% of chromium (Cr), 3.0 to 8.0% of nickel (Ni) and 0.05 to 0.4% of nitrogen (N). A ratio of chromium (Cr) to carbon (C) is in a range of 22.5&#x2266;Cr/C&#x2266;57.5. The cast steel includes one or two or more of vanadium (V), molybdenum (Mo), tungsten (W) and niobium (Nb) in a total amount of less than 0.2%.

Ferritic spheroidal graphite cast iron includes: 3.1 to 3.5 percent by mass of carbon; 4.1 to 4.5 percent by mass of silicon; 0.8 percent by mass or below of manganese; 0.1 to 0.6 percent by mass of molybdenum; 0.1 to 1.0 percent by mass of chromium; 0.03 to 0.1 percent by mass of phosphorus; 0.03 percent by mass or below of sulfur; 0.02 to 0.15 percent by mass of magnesium; and iron.

A casting process for producing a metal matrix composite comprising a first phase or a matrix of a metal or metal alloy and a second phase of particles dispersed in the matrix, comprising the steps of: preparing a melt of the metal or metal alloy in a vessel; feeding the particles to the melt; applying ultrasonic vibration to the melt while electromagnetically stirring the melt; and then causing solidification of the melt. The process preferably further comprises the step of applying ultrasonic vibration to the melt while electromagnetically stirring the melt during the solidification of the melt.

Casting process for producing metal matrix composite

A ferritic heat-resistant cast steel includes C in an amount of from 0.1 to 0.4% by weight, Si in an amount of from 0.5 to 2.0% by weight, Mn in an amount of 1.0% by weight or less, S in an amount of from 0.06 to 0.20% by weight, Ni in an amount of 1.0% by weight or less, Cr in an amount of from 13 to 20% by weight, V in an amount of from 0.2 to 1.0% by weight, at least one element selected from the group consisting of Nb in an amount of from 0.1 to 0.4% by weight, Mo in an amount of from 0.1 to 2.0% by weight, and W in an amount of from 0.2 to 4.0% by weight, and the balance of Fe and inevitable impurities, the S being dispersed as sulfides in the ferritic heat-resistant cast steel. It can further include at least one element selected from the group consisting of Te in an amount of from 0.01 to 0.1% by weight and Al in an amount of from 0.01 to 0.5% by weight. It can be produced by melting and casting the alloying elements and thereafter by annealing the resulting cast product at a temperature of from 750.degree. to 1,000.degree. C.

Ferritic heat-resistant cast steel and process for producing the same

Ferritic heat-resisting cast steel, which intends to highten the applicability for use of the exhaust manifold of a vehicle engine without losing oxidation resistance, machinability and structural stability, containing, on a weight basis, 0.05 to 0.5% C, 1.0 to 2.0% Si, less than 0.6% Mn, less than 0.04% P, less than 0.04% S, less than 0.5% Ni, 10 to 20% Cr, 0.1 to 1.0% V, 0.5 to 1.0% Nb, 0.08 to 0.50% Mo, less than 0.01% W and 0.01 to 0.2% Ce, the balance of its composition being iron. Alternatively, it may contain 0.1 to 1.5% Mn and 0.01 to 0.2% S, and may further contain 0.01 to 0.2% Te and/or 0.01 to 0.3% Al. Further, it may contain 0.1 to 5.0% Co and/or 0.1 to 5.0% Ti. The cast steel is annealed at a temperature of 850.degree. C. to 1000.degree. C. for one to five hours.
