In a fuel controller which comprises; a venturi portion formed in an air-intake path adapted to feed air to an internal combustion engine; a throttle valve installed on the downstream side of the venturi portion; an auxiliary throttle valve and a fuel injection portion provided between the throttle valve and the venturi portion; a bypass air path opened at the venturi portion and at the upstream side thereof; a hot-wire type air flow sensor provided in the bypass air path for detecting an amount of air passing therethrough; and a proportional electromagnetic device which controls the amount of air passing through the bypass air path at a constant level with an air needle valve provided therein and which controls an amount of fuel passing through a fuel path corresponding to an amount of air passing through the air-intake path with a fuel needle valve provided in the fuel path communicating with the fuel injection portion, the auxiliary throttle valve and the throttle valve are operated interlockedly through a link mechanism.

Fuel controller for internal combustion engine

An air flow rate measuring device has a by-pass passage branched from a main air passage leading to an engine, and heat wires provided in the by-pass passage. The inlet of the by-pass passage is positioned at the upper end of a venturi tube disposed in the main air passage, shaped annularly, and opened to the main air passage so that the air at the inlet can be subjected to the dynamic pressure of the main air stream. The outlet of the by-pass passage also is annularly formed and opened normally to the main air stream in the main air passage. The flow rate of air sucked into the engine is measured by the heat wires subjected to air flow taken in the by-pass passage.

Air flow rate measuring device

A method of starting the operation of an internal combustion engine utilizes a turning force transmitted from wheels of a vehicle through a clutch in addition to a driving force generated by a starting motor. A computer for controlling engine operations detects the initiation of the engine starting operation on the basis of the rotating speed of the engine or intake air quantity and additionally detects the termination of the engine starting operation when the engine rotating speed or intake air quantity exceeds an associated reference value. When the engine stops in the course of running of a vehicle, the engine can be re-started under the influence of the inertial force of the vehicle without resorting to the operation of the starting motor.

Method for starting the operation of an internal combustion engine

A variable stage type carburetor having an intake passage, a throttle valve disposed in the intake passage, and a movable vane disposed at the upstream side of the throttle valve, the movable vane being adapted to cooperate with the wall of the intake passage in constituting a variable venturi and operatively connected to the throttle valve, so as to be moved in response to the movement of the throttle valve. The carburetor further has a first vane controller adapted for displacing the movable vane in the closing direction, independently of the throttle valve, when the venturi vacuum is lowered, and a second vane controller adapted to displace the movable vane in the closing direction, also independently of the throttle valve, when the force exerted by the intake air flow on the movable vane drops below a predetermined level.
