To improve actual coating efficiency, the present invention has a coating robot provided with a coating unit configured by a plurality of rotary atomizing type electrostatic coating machines horizontally arranged, and a coating control apparatus that controls the coating unit and the coating robot. A diameter of each of bells is 50 mm or less. The coating material discharge amount of each rotary atomizing type electrostatic coating machine is 400 cc/min or less. A coating distance between each bell and a surface to be coated of a workpiece is controlled between 50 mm to 150 mm. The coating material discharge amounts of the plurality of electrostatic coating machines are controlled for the respective coating machines. The control of the coating material discharge amounts includes a pause of coating material discharge.

Coating apparatus and coating method

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evolve a spark discharge preventing effect of an electrostatic coating device. SOLUTION: One coating robot has an arm equipped with a plurality of electrostatic coating devicesclose to each other and the plurality of the electrostatic coating devicesis connected in parallel with each other to one high-voltage generator. A hollow rotary shaftdriven by an air motoris disposed with nine plate-shaped resistorsarranged circumferentially at intervals. The nine plate-shaped resistorsare connected in series and a high voltage is applied via the resistorsto a rotary atomization head. The rotary atomization headis made of a semiconductive resin.

Electrostatic coating device and system

An electrostatic coater capable of realizing high-level coating quality is provided. Shaping air SA, discharged from an air port, is directed radially outward. An elevation angle thereof preferably ranges from 10 to 20 degrees. Further, the shaping air SA is a flow in a state of being twisted in a direction opposite to the rotation direction R of a bell cup. The twisting angle about the axis O of the bell cup preferably ranges from 38 to 60 degrees. A liquid thread of paint extends radially outward from the outer peripheral edge of the bell cup, and the paint separated from the tip end thereof becomes a particle. It is preferable that the shaping air SA collides with the paint particle at a point P where the momentum of the paint particle is decreased of the paint particle is decreased.
