An information storage device includes a storage unit to which a storage region is assigned, a first management information storage unit that stores address information indicating an address range of the storage region in association with identification information identifying the storage region, and a processor that executes a procedure that includes acquiring the address information corresponding to the identification information from the first management information storage unit and accesses the storage region corresponding to the address information and rewriting the identification information stored in the first management information storage unit.

Information storage device and method

A storage device includes a storage unit and a controller that controls the storage unit in accordance with a request provided from an upstream-side device. The storage unit includes a storage medium that stores data, an authentication processing unit that performs an authentication process, and a storage region managing unit that sets either a first region or a second region in a storage region. The first region is accessible and useable to perform data reading and data writing between the upstream-side device and the storage unit when the access authentication is successfully performed on the basis of a first password. The second region may be released when the access authentication is successfully performed on the basis of a second password. When the storage unit needs to be disconnected, the controller sets the second region in the storage region in which the first region has been previously set.

A disk array apparatus with a number of storage units aims at application of new control firmware to the storage units. The disk array apparatus includes a controlling unit controlling the storage units, which controlling unit includes a storing section storing control firmware to be applied; a monitoring section for monitoring a state of access to each storage unit to which the control firmware is to be applied; and an application instructing section instructing, on the basis of the result of the monitoring by the monitoring section, each the first storage unit to apply the first control firmware. In response to the instructing by the application instructing section, the control firmware is applied to each the storage unit.
