Images of different colors are sequentially formed in the image formation areas by recording headsthroughrespectively provided in first through third image formation sectionsthrough. The recording headsthroughof the first through third image formation sectionsthroughare separated from each other by a distance which is greater than a length of an image formation area in a traveling direction of the recording intermediate belt. The recording headsthroughare each pressed onto the recording intermediate beltin a non-image formation area immediately preceding an image formation area and starts an image formation operation. The image formation operation is stopped when the recording headsthrougheach face a non-image formation area immediately subsequent to the image formation area. Thus, a clear full-color image can be formed with the image formed in each image formation section being free from color non-uniformity.

Using a common area sensor to build a high resolution electronic camera requires a large sensor chip with an incumbent high cost. Using a line sensor results in slow imaging and therefore limited applications. An electronic camera using a small sensor chip with high speed imaging is therefore provided. A two-dimensional imaging device that is narrower than an area sensor subscans the imaging plane of the lens system by means of a scanning device. The charge transfer register of the two-dimensional imaging device is driven by an X clock generator in the opposite direction and at the same speed as the subscanning speed, thereby achieving TDI operation and high speed image capturing.

An electrophotographic developing apparatus includes a photoreceptor drum supported for rotation in one direction, a rotatably supported developing roller disposed in face-to-face relation with the photoreceptor drum for supplying a single-component developing material, a rotatably supported charge transfer roller disposed on one side of the developing roll remote from the photoreceptor drum and in face-to-face relation with the developing roller for delivering the developing material onto the developing roller, a charged layer regulating member disposed around the charge transfer roller and cooperable with the charge transfer roller to regulate a charging and a layer of the developing material, and a developing hopper for accommodating the developing material to be supplied to the charge transfer member. In operation, the developing material within the hopper is carried by the charge transfer roller in the form of a charged toner layer which is subsequently delivered onto the developing roller. The toner layer on the developing layer is then deposited on an electrostatic latent image formed on the photoreceptor drum. At least one of a material for, a surface roughness of and a speed of movement of the developing roller differs from that of the charge transfer roller.

An electrophotographic copier has a photoconductive apparatus including a photoconductive belt and at least first and second rollers around which the photoconductive belt runs, a first body, a development apparatus mounted on the first body and having a support for positioning and supporting the first roller at both ends thereof, and the first body having a single fixing device thereon at a point spaced from the first roller, a second body, and an optical apparatus mounted on the second body, the second body supporting the photoconductive apparatus and having a guide for determining the positions of the first and second rollers, the second body being supported by the single fixing device, whereby the second body is supported substantially at three points on the first body.

Electro photographic copier with photoconductive belt

A magnetic tape recording and/or reproducing apparatus which has a magnetic head, two tape winding reels, a first capstan and a first pressure roller opposed thereto, a second capstan and a second pressure roller opposed thereto, the pressure rollers being movable into contact with the capstans for transporting a magnetic tape. Two fixed motors are coaxial with and directly drive the respective capstans. A tape direction control is connected to the pressure rollers for selectively bring the first or second pressure roller into contact with the first or second capstan, respectively for selectively driving the tape in one or the other direction. A transmission is provided to which the tape direction control is connected for driving the tape winding reels under the control of the tape direction control means. The transmission has idlers for transmitting the rotary motion of the motors and is selectively engageable with one of the two winding reels and one of the two motors or with the other of the two winding reels and the other of the two motors, depending on the direction in which the tape is to be transported.
