The present invention discloses a television that includes: a power circuit; a tuner for receiving television broadcasting signals; a display for displaying an image according to image signals based on the television broadcasting signals; a speaker for outputting a sound according to audio signals based on the television broadcasting signals; a connecting terminal for connecting to a player device that is capable of playing a media file; a connection detecting unit for detecting that the player device is connected to the connecting terminal; a charging unit for charging a battery of the player device in case the player device is connected to the connecting terminal; and a charge preventing unit for preventing the charging unit from charging the battery according to a user's operation.

Receiver for digital broadcasting

When a digital broadcasting channel and an analog broadcasting channel, over which the same program is currently being transmitted, are provided by a broadcasting station, upon each depression of a digital/analog switching button on an operating unit, an MPU alternately switches between the digital broadcasting channel and the analog broadcasting channel across which the program is being transmitted. And when the current broadcasting station provides a digital broadcasting channel and an analog broadcasting channel across which the same program is currently being transmitted, the MPU alternately switches between a predetermined digital broadcasting channel and a predetermined analog broadcasting channel.

Digital/analog broadcast receiver

A discharge gap device which is provided between an antenna input terminal or a secondary side earth and a commercial power source, or between the power lines of a commercial power source as a ground discharge countermeasure for electrical equipments such as a television set, a video cassette recorder, and a television and video compound device. The discharge gap device functions only as a discharge gap unit and has two conductors. Normally, the conductors are not electrically connected to each other, and upon application of over-voltage, discharge occurs between the conductors; that is, the conductors are electrically connected to each other.
