A connector includes a housing having a plurality of cavities, a seal member having a plurality of seal holes, a rear holder that holds the seal member between the housing and the rear holder, and a terminal fitting that is inserted into the cavity through the seal hole. The seal member includes a main body portion disposed on a side of the rear holder, and a plurality of protrusions protruding forward from the main body portion. Each of the seal holes has a shape penetrating in a front-rear direction from the main body portion to each of the protrusions. A space that allows displacement of the protrusions is provided between the housing and the seal member. The housing is provided with a restriction portion that is disposed between the plurality of the protrusions with a gap interposed therebetween.

Connector capable of preventing damage to a seal member

An elastic member and a waterproof connector are provided and are capable of maintaining water proofing properties even though a wire is shaken. The elastic member () is to be fit on a rear surface of a housing () capable of housing terminal metal pieces (T) fixed to end portions of wires (W). Seal holes () penetrate the elastic member () in forward and backward directions and are capable of being in tight contact with the wires (W). Lips () are formed to be aligned in the forward and backward directions in the seal holes (). Grooves () open in the front surface and are formed around the seal holes (). The grooves () have a depth enough to reach backward of the lip (A) located on at least the front surface.

Elastic member and waterproof connector

A seal () to be mounted into a rear part of a housingand is formed with seal holes () configured to allow wires () connected to rear parts of terminal fittings () to pass therethrough in a liquid-tight manner. The seal () includes a body () constituting rear areas (R) of the seal holes () and having an outer peripheral lip () formed on an outer periphery. An area between inner peripheries of the seal holes () and the outer peripheral lip () defines a solid resilient portion (). Following portions () project forwardly of the outer peripheral lip () from a front surface of the body (). The following portions () constitute front areas (F) of the seal holes () and are resiliently deformable in directions intersecting a penetrating direction of the seal holes ().

Seal member and waterproof connector

A connector (F) includes a housing () formed with terminal accommodating chambers () in multiple stages in a vertical direction. Locking lances () cantilever forward along lower wall surfaces of the terminal accommodating chambers (), and terminal fittings () are retained by the locking lances (). Deflection spaces (E) allow the locking lances () to be resiliently deflected. Horizontal plate-like functional portions (E) are formed on a front retainer () and are insertable into the deflection spaces (E). A supporting plate () is cantilevered forward along a lower surface of the lowermost plate-like functional portion (E) and constitutes an outer wall of the housing (). Reinforcing ribs (E) and () are formed on the supporting plate () and are configured to enhance flexural rigidity of the supporting plate ().

Connector with plate-like functional portion

A female connector (F) includes a block-like main body () formed with terminal accommodating chambers (). Projection-like functional portions () made of synthetic resin project from outer surfaces of the main body () and terminal accommodating chambers () are formed in the projection-like functional portions (). Terminal fittings () are accommodated into the terminal accommodating chambers (). Spaces constituting the terminal accommodating chambers () are present in the projection-like functional portions (). Thus, even if the projection-like functional portions () are enlarged, sinks will not form in the projection-like functional portions () in a molding process.

A terminal () of a terminal-attached wire (), in which the terminal () is connected to an end portion of a wire () and the end portion is sealed by a heat shrinkable tube (), includes a terminal connecting portion () to be connected to a mating terminal, a wire connecting portion () to be connected to the end portion of the wire () and a coupling portion () coupling the terminal connecting portion () and the wire connecting portion () An opening end (A) of the heat shrinkable tube () is mounted on the coupling portion (), and a draining portion () for preventing adhering water from running down to the opening end (A) is provided on a side closer to the terminal connecting portion () than the opening end (A).

Terminal-attached wire and terminal

A relay terminal () made of copper or copper alloy and configured to join an aluminum wire () and a copper wire () by being electrically connected to the aluminum wire () and the copper wire () includes a first barrel portion () to be caulked and crimped to an aluminum core () of the aluminum wire () made of aluminum or aluminum alloy, which is a metal different from copper or copper alloy constituting the relay terminal (), a second barrel portion () to be caulked and crimped to a copper core () of the copper wire (), a bottom plate () configured to link the first barrel portion () and the second barrel portion (), and a projecting portion () (water drainage portion ()) provided on the bottom plate () and configured to restrict the intrusion of water from the second barrel portion () toward the first barrel portion ().

Multiple wire connecting terminal

A female terminal fitting () is to be crimped to a wire including a core () formed by plural strands () and includes a bottom plate () on which the core () is to be placed, and a pair of crimping pieces (L,R) connected to the bottom plate () and to be crimped to the core () in such a manner as to embrace the core () placed on the bottom plate (). Butting parts of the respective crimping pieces (L,R) are formed with a thinning portion (), and a corner portion () is formed by deforming the thinning portion () when the respective crimping pieces (L,R) are crimped to the core (). Accordingly, a clearance formed at the butting parts of the respective crimping pieces (L,R) can be made smaller than in the case where the thinning portions () are not provided.

Terminal fitting

A terminal fitting () is crimped to an aluminum wire including a core () formed by putting a plurality of strands () together. The terminal fitting () includes a bottom plate () on which the core () is placed, and two barrel pieces (L,R) connected to the bottom plate () and crimped to the core () so as to embrace the core () placed on the bottom plate (). Overlapping portions (L,R) are formed on tip parts of the respective barrel pieces (L,R) by folding a plate material forming the barrel pieces (L,R) to overlap layers of the plate material. The overlapping portions (L,R) contact each other without intruding between the strands () when the respective barrel pieces (L,R) are crimped to the core (). The terminal fitting () eliminates breakage of the core () and is less affected by spring back.

Crimp type terminal fitting

An object of the present invention is to provide a terminal fitting with improved waterproof property. A terminal fitting () includes a box-shaped main portion (), barrel portions () to be crimped and connected to a core () at an end portion of a wire (), a waterproof wall () to be mounted between the barrel portions () and the main portion () to partition between them in a liquid-tight manner, a restricting portion () configured to restrict a movement of the waterproof wall () toward the main portion () by coming into contact with the waterproof wall () from the main portion () side and a heat shrinkable tube () to be held in close contact with the barrel portions () and the waterproof wall () while surrounding the core ().

A waterproof connector has a housing () for accommodating terminal fittings () connected to ends of wires (W). An engaging portion () is formed on the outer surface of the housing (). A one-piece rubber plug () is mounted in a rear part of the housing () to collectively seal the wires (W). A holder () is fit to the rear part of the housing () to retain the one-piece rubber plug () and a cover () is arranged on a rear part of the holder (). The holder () is formed with an opening () for exposing the engaging portion () if the holder () is mounted properly on the housing () and the cover () is formed with a lock () that can engage the exposed engaging portion ().

Waterproof connector

A terminal fitting () includes a wire barrel () to be crimped and connected to a core () at an end portion of a wire (). An insulation barrel () is located behind the wire barrel () and is to be crimped and connected to an insulation coating () at the end portion of the wire (). The inner surface of the insulation barrel () is formed with a close-contact portion () to be held in close contact with the insulation coating () and a recessed groove () spaced from the insulation coating () and extending over the entire circumference. The recessed groove () has an opening () that is open at the front end of the insulation barrel () and a waterproof material () flows into the recessed groove () through the opening (). The waterproof material () adheres to the outer surface of the core ().

Terminal fitting and a method for forming a fluid-proof terminated wire assembly

A terminal fitting includes an open-barrel shaped electric wire crimping section for connecting a conductor of an electric wire to the terminal fitting by crimping. The electric wire crimping section has a clamping region in a range except for both ends of the electric wire crimping section in a wiring direction of the conductor. A fixing portion is formed by displacing a part of the clamping region of the electric wire crimping section to the conductor. Locking portions are disposed at both sides of the fixing portion in the wiring direction of the conductor with the fixing portion being located between them respectively. The locking portions are configured for coupling the fixing portion and a remainder of the electric wire crimping section to each other in a step-like way.

A terminal fitting () is provided with a terminal portion () and a wire connecting portion () formed to be continuous with the rear end of the terminal portion () and to be connected with an exposed part of a conductor (). The wire connecting portion () and the exposed part of the conductor () are accommodated in a waterproof cover () and clearances in the waterproof cover () are filled with a filling material (). The waterproof cover () is formed with a holding portion () for holding the terminal fitting () in such a manner as to preventing a movement of the terminal fitting () with respect to the waterproof cover () by coming into contact with the terminal fitting ().

Waterproof device and a waterproof device producing method

A lever () can be assembled in either of two postures symmetrical with respect to an axis of symmetry (), and the rotating direction of the lever () changes depending on the assembling posture. Thus, the rotating direction of the lever () can be selected depending on circumstances. A cam follower () can enter a cam groove () regardless of the posture in which the lever () is assembled. The lever () can be held at a standby position by a holder (L,R,), and the lever () can be locked at a connection position by a lock (L,R,L,R,).
