When a command to restore a logical unit is issued after a command to delete the logical unit, the logical unit is restored easily. When a controller receives an LU deletion command from a management terminal and if the relevant LU is a normal LU, it retains information about the deletion target LU, from among information in an LU management table, as reset information; and if the relevant LU is a virtual LU, the controller retains information about the deletion target LU, from among information in a virtual address table, as the reset information. If the controller receives an LU restoration command to restore the deletion target LU as an access target LU, from the management terminal, it restores the retained reset information as setting information corresponding to the access target LU and manages the restored setting information by using the LU management table or the virtual address table, thereby processing an access request from a host computer.

A controller existing on a level above a media drive issues a first read command specifying a plurality of data blocks to the media drive, and upon detecting a time-out for the first read command, generates a second read command specifying a portion of the data blocks among the plurality of data blocks, and issues the second read command to the media drive. Upon receiving the portion of data blocks without detecting a time-out for the second read command, the controller reads the plurality of data blocks specified by the first read command by issuing the second read command to the media drive one or more times.

Storage system and storage control method

A structure of control units and storage units is provided in which, if a port for connecting the storage units fails, any storage unit in a plurality of storage unit groups can be accessed from one control unit. Specifically, a distinctively arranged structure is provided in which dual paths are provided, with each path connected to a plurality of storage unit groups, whereby, in normal operation, dual paths are used as data transfer paths to allow faster access. When a port or path failure occurs, the dual paths allow RAID functions to be maintained.

Storage control unit and storage system

A storage system comprises a disc drive unit including a plurality of logical drive groups each having a plurality of physical drives, and a disc drive control unit for controlling the information transfer between the disc drive unit and the host system. The logical data arriving from the host system is divided into a plurality of continuous data blocks, from which redundant data is prepared for data restoration. The redundant data is added to the continuous data blocks to provide updated logical data. The storage system is controlled in such a way as to write the updated logical data into a plurality of physical drives. In the case where a fault develops in any of the data blocks of the physical drives to be accessed, redundant data is generated from the updated logical data. The data block of the updated logical data of the physical drive corresponding to the data blocks that has not developed a fault, among the data blocks and the redundant data making up the updated logical data, is stored in the physical drive. The data block of the updated logical data of the physical drive corresponding to the data block that has developed a fault is stored in the nonvolatile memory. The completion of writing the updated logical data into the storage system is reported to the host system. In re-updating the updated logical data, the data block of the re-updated logical data corresponding to the data block of the physical drive that has developed a fault is stored in the physical drives. The data block stored in the nonvolatile memory are stored into an alternate block allocated to the physical drives.

Automatic storage system and method for information recording media

A gas turbine combustor for reducing a production of NOx. The combustor includes a head combustion chamber and a rear combustion chamber which is larger in diameter than the head combustion chamber. The head combustion chamber is provided with an axially extending hollow frustoconical tubular member to form an annular combustion space therein, air holes for axially jetting air into the annular combustion chamber, air holes formed on a peripheral wall for injecting air and a plurality of fuel nozzles projected into the annular combustion space for injecting fuel into vortex formed by the air jet and the injected air flow whereby the flame is stabilized and lean combustion can be effected. The rear combustion chamber has a fuel and air supply means on the upstream side which includes air inlets formed by whirling vanes and fuel nozzles disposed in the air inlets so that fuel and air are mixed well. The fuel and air mixture is jetted substantially axially while whirling it so that formation of hot spots is avoided and the NOx formation is extremely limited.

Gas turbine combustor

A combustor of two-stage combustion type in which fuel is supplied only from primary fuel nozzles for combustion only in primary combustion chamber under the operating condition where gas turbine load is low, and premixed mixture is supplied into a secondary combustion chamber provided on the downstream side of the primary combustion chamber for combustion in both the primary and secondary combustion chambers under the operating condition where the load is high. An air-bleed passageway opens on a downstream side of air holes for intaking secondary combustion air to be mixed with secondary fuel and communicates with the outside of the combustor. The air-bleed passageway is provided with a regulating valve and the secondary combustion air is bled at the minimum point of the load where the secondary fuel is supplied so that the fuel to air ratio of secondary premixed mixture may not be excessively lean, thereby reducing the production of non-burned components.

Combustor for gas turbine

A method of starting a gas turbine plant, which plant has at least one combustor including a primary combustion chamber into which primary fuel nozzles open and a secondary combustion chamber into which secondary fuel nozzles open, a compressor for supplying the combustor with compressed combustion air, and a gas turbine driven by the combustion gas generated in the combustor and adapted to drive a load such as an electric power generator. When the gas turbine is being accelerated to a rated speed or while the load is still below a normal load range, a fuel is supplied only to the primary fuel nozzle, whereas, in other loaded operation range, the fuel is supplied to both the primary and secondary fuel nozzles. Before the fuel supply to the secondary fuel nozzles is commenced, a part of the compressed air is bled through at least one air bleed pipe leading from the compressor and having an air bleed valve. The air bleed valve is controlled in such a manner that the opening degree thereof is maximized when the fuel supply to the secondary fuel nozzles is commenced and is progressively decreased in accordance with the increase of the load such as to become substantially zero when the load has been increased to the normal load range.

Method of starting gas turbine plant

A premixture of compressed air and gaseous fuel is supplied and conbusted into a head combustion chamber of a combustor for gas turbine and main combustion of lean, low flame temperature is carried out in a rear combustion chamber following the heat combustion chamber to prevent the formation of high flame temperature which tends to promote NOx generation.

In combustion of gasified fuel by gasifying a low quality fuel and combusting the gasified fuel in a combustor, combustion of gasified fuel is controlled by sampling the gasified fuel at a constant flow rate at the upstream side of the combustor, combusting the sampled gasified fuel, detecting an overall energy level of sensible heat and heating value possessed per unit weight of the gasified fuel on the basis of the combustion temperature of the sampled gasified fuel, and controlling the flow rate of gasified fuel to be led to the combustor in accordance with a fluctuation in the detected overall energy level. Unstable combustion due to a fluctuation in the heating value of the gasified fuel and blow-out due to deficiency of the heating value can be prevented.

Method and apparatus for controlling combustion of gasified fuel

A gas turbine combustor comprising a combustor inner-pipe for forming a head combustion chamber and a rear combustion chamber having a diameter larger than a diameter of head combustion chamber. A combustor outer-pipe covers the combustor inner-pipe, and a fuel nozzle is disposed at an end part of the head combustion chamber for supplying fuel to said combustor inner pipe. A first group of ports are arranged for swirling and feeding air in an axial direction of the combustor inner-pipe. The first group of ports are around the fuel nozzle. A second group of ports for swirling and feeding air in a radial direction of said combustor inner-pipe are disposed in a side wall of the head combustion chamber near the fuel nozzle. A third group of ports for swirling and feeding air in a radial direction of the combustion inner-pipe and a fourth group of ports for feeding air in a radial direction of the combustor inner-pipe are provided and ar both disposed in a side wall of the head combustion chamber near the said rear combustion chamber. A fifth group of ports are disposed in a side wall of the rear combustion chamber near the head combustion chamber and a sixth group of ports are disposed in a side wall of the rear combustion chamber on a downstream side of the fifth group of ports. Another group of ports for swirling and feeding air into the head combustion chamber are disposed in a vicinity of a central portion of an end part of the head combustion chamber along an inner periphery of the fuel nozzle, with this group of ports and the first group of ports being constructed so that air flowing from both groups of ports has the same swirling direction.

A combustor of a gas turbine including fuel distributing and supplying means including a plurality of sets of fuel nozzles arranged circularly on the head of the combustor and each fuel nozzle being provided with a combustion primary air swirler, and a plurality of fuel supply systems each connected to one fuel nozzle or a plurality of fuel nozzles. One set of fuel nozzles is located inside another set of fuel nozzles and projects further inwardly into the interior of the combustor. The number of the fuel supply systems handling a supply of fuel can be increased or reduced depending on the volume of fuel.
