An optical unit and image pickup apparatus capable of performing 'auto focus function' and 'image shake correction function' and characterized by easy assembling, compact configuration, high performance and reduced costs is provided. The optical unit and image pickup apparatus are provided with a polymer actuator to move an optical device, whereby performing auto focus function and image shake correction function can be performed. The polymer actuator is provided with electric wirings for image pickup device, thereby reducing the number of circuit board used for electric wiring of the image pickup device, with the result that an optical unit and image pickup apparatus characterized by easy assembling, compact configuration, high performance and reduced costs are provided.

A tire is designed using a tire FEM model by obtaining an optimal solution for a tire structure which optimizes an objective function with a tread pattern shape kept fixed and performing a numerical optimization for obtaining an optimal solution for the tread pattern shape which optimizes the objective function with the tire structure kept fixed. The optimization for the tire structure is performed using a tire model having a tread pattern shape optimized at the immediately preceding cycle of the operation of optimizing the tread pattern shape. The optimization for the tread pattern shape is performed using a tire model having a tire structure optimized at the preceding cycle of the operation of optimizing the tire structure. The optimizing operations are repeated until convergence of optimal solutions obtained by those operations takes place.

Tire design method

In a tire design method, a numerical optimization is performed according to a basis vector process using an FEM model to obtain an optimal solution which optimizes an objective function for a tread pattern shape. A numerical optimization is performed according to an ECAT using the FEM model to obtain an optimal solution which optimizes the objective function for the tread pattern shape. Either of the calculations is executed first, and the optimal solution obtained at the first calculation is used as an initial shape when the other numerical optimization is performed.

An initial layout of one pitch unit of a tire tread pattern is decided. A finite element model of a tire is created by developing the one pitch unit of the initial layout into a plurality of pitches in the circumferential direction of the tire to carry out a structural analysis. Evaluation indices calculated through the analysis are integrated into one pitch unit for each element associated with the indices. The elements are classified according to the magnitudes of the integrated evaluation indices to determine a plurality of classes to which elements subject to removal belong, and elements to be removed are selected from each of classes thus determined. Elements to be added are selected from among the elements which have been removed to decide a layout of the current generation. A finite element model of a tire is created by developing the layout of the current generation into a plurality of pitches to carry out a structural analysis, and convergence of an objective function is determined.

An object of the present invention is to provide a solid-state image sensing device configured to change a bias voltage given to the photoelectric converting section at the time of resetting so that an operative condition of the photoelectric converting section after the resetting can be maintained a constant condition regardless of an amount of the incident light. A still video camera or apparatus which eliminates possible erasure in error of a picture image to be maintained and wherein a picture image recorded in an internal memory can be reproduced readily. The camera comprises image pickup means, recording means for recording a picture image signal obtained by the image pickup means into a record medium which may be an internal memory or a removable IC card, manually operable means, protect signal recording means operable in response to an operation of the manually operable means for recording into the record medium a protect signal representative of inhibition of erasure of a picture image signal recorded in the record medium, and controlling means for inhibiting erasure of a picture image signal at a portion of the record medium corresponding to the thus recorded protect signal.

A camera system on which a remote control device enables photographing with a camera body directed to a user of the remote control device, is controlled by a program of a microcomputer for controlling provided in the camera body. In this program, while the lens direction of the camera body is being shifted by the remote control device, a release signal sent from the remote control device is disregarded. As a result, even if the user pushes a release button by mistake to transmit a release signal, the microcomputer does not accept a remote control release signal while the lens is moving by a remote control drive signal, thereby preventing exposure.

An imaging apparatus of an electronic camera according to the present invention has a lens barrier arranged on an object side of a photographing lens; an imaging device capable of changing electric charge storage time; a lens barrier state-detecting means for outputting a signal indicating an opening state of the lens barrier after detecting the opening state of the lens barrier; a release switch for starting a photographing operation; an imaging device control means for starting electric charge storage of the device when the signal of the opening state of the lens barrier is outputted from the detecting means and for outputting a charge termination signal when the charge is terminated; and a lens barrier opening and closing driving means for driving the lens barrier to open on the basis of a turning-on signal of the release switch and for driving the lens barrier to close on the basis of the charge termination signal outputted from the control means. In this apparatus, by driving the driving means, the lens barrier is opened only during a photographing period, while the lens barrier is closed during a non-photographing period to prevent the device from being exposed to strong outside light.
