A robot system has a manipulator that conveys a conveying object to a conveyance destination having a bottom surface and a wall surface connected to the bottom surface. The system includes: a first process in which the manipulator puts a first conveying object on the bottom surface of the conveyance destination; a second process in which the manipulator conveys a second conveying object to a position that does not come into contact with the first conveying object on the bottom surface of the conveyance destination; and a third process in which the manipulator moves the second conveying object in the direction of the first conveying object from the position that does not come into contact with the first conveying object, and moves the first conveying object by further moving the second conveying object after coming into contact with the first conveying object.

Robot system and control method thereof

When a vehicle navigation system is manipulated by taking pictures of a user hand motion and gesture with a camera, as the number of apparatuses and operational objects increases, the associated hand shapes and hand motions increase, thus causing a complex manipulation for a user. Furthermore, in detecting a hand with the camera, when the image of a face having color tone information similar to that of a hand appears in an image taken with a camera, or outside light rays such as sun rays or illumination rays vary, detection accuracy is reduced. To overcome such problems, a manipulation input device is provided that includes a limited hand manipulation determination unit and a menu representation unit, whereby a simple manipulation can be achieved and manipulation can accurately be determined. In addition, detection accuracy can be improved by a unit that selects a single result from results determined by a plurality of determination units, based on images taken with a plurality of cameras.

A video reproducing apparatus that stores video programs on multiple removable media, automatically changes the removable media, and supplies requested video programs to multiple terminal devices has a control unit that stores predicted times at which the programs currently being reproduced will require a change of removable media. When a program request is received, the control unit calculates the media change times of the program, and adjusts these times according to the stored predicted times. The adjustments enable all terminals to receive video programs without noise or interruption when the removable media are changed.

In a hierarchical data storage system that supplies data, on request, from a library apparatus in which the data are stored on removable media and from a high-speed cache device, the requests are analyzed to select the most frequently requested data and predict the system's least busy periods. During each predicted least busy period, data are copied from the library apparatus to the cache device, if necessary, so that all of the selected most-frequently-requested data are stored in the cache device. Data are not transferred from the library apparatus to the cache device at other times, thereby avoiding unnecessary cache replacements and improving the efficiency with which requests can be served.

The system for supplying information to a terminal device or devices has one or more optical disk drives, a magnetic disk storage for storing information regarding a beginning portion of the information recorded on the optical disk or disks, one or more optical disk monitoring circuits, an electronic switch assembly for selectively outputting one of the stored information from the magnetic disk storage and the readout information from the optical disk drive, one or more FIFO memories for temporarily holding and outputting information from the electronic switch assembly, and a controller which causes the electronic switch assembly to output the stored information from the magnetic disk storage in response to the playback request input, and subsequently causes the electronic switch assembly to output the readout information from the optical disk drive in response to the signal from the optical disk monitoring circuit so that the FIFO memory outputs continuous information.

An image blur correcting apparatus includes a lens-barrel part having a lens and an imaging device, an image signal processing device for forming a video signal from an electrical signal obtained at the imaging device, a supporting body for supporting the lens-barrel part in a freely pivoting manner around a rotation axis crossing a beam axis incident to the lens-barrel part at approximately right angles, and an actuator device attached between the lens-barrel part and the supporting body for rotating the lens-barrel part. The apparatus further includes a relative angle detecting device for detecting a relative angle between the lens-barrel part and the supporting body and a device for detecting a moving vector indicating an amount of blur of the image from correlation between two frames of image information from the image signal processing means, which are continuous in view of time. Finally, the device includes an angular velocity accumulating device for calculating rotating angular velocity using a zoom multiplying factor or the like from the detected result of the moving vector.

A photographic optical system controlling apparatus for carrying out an automatic focusing control and an exposure control. The apparatus comprises a motion vector detecting means for detecting the motion of the image and changes a gate area or a photometric area. The result is that the focusing or the exposure controlling operation can be carried out accurately following the motion of a main object, irrespective of the positional change of the object the screen.

A moving vector detecting apparatus includes a horizontal low-pass filter for extracting a low-pass component in a horizontal direction of an input image signal; a first moving vector detector for detecting a moving vector in a vertical direction of an image, by an inter-frame correlation between a representative point and a pixel on a vertical straight line through the representative point, from the output signal of the horizontal low-pass filter; a vertical low-pass filter for extracting a low-pass component of an input image signal in a vertical direction; and a second moving vector detector for detecting a moving vector in a horizontal direction of the image, by an inter-frame correlation between the representative point and a pixel on a horizontal straight line through the representative point, from the output signal of the vertical low-pass filter. Therefore, the horizontal component of the moving vector is detected from the signal component having a high vertical correlation and the vertical component of the moving vector is detected from the signal component having a high horizontal correlation both by the one-dimensional moving vector detector, with the result that the moving vector can be detected with a few accumulated addition tables in short calculating time.

A tape remaining time display method and system is provided for displaying the length of the remaining tape in terms of the length of time. The length of remaining tape is directly or indirectly calculated from a detected cycle for the rotation of the tape supply-side reel. A digital filtering process is performed on the value calculated directly or indirectly from the detected cycle of rotation for the supply-side reel in order to provide a highly accurate tape remaining time display system.

A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus using a pilot signal control system is adapted such that a cue signal (51) is recorded in a cue track (50) provided besides a video signal track (52) when a magnetic tape (7) is temporarily stopped during the recording operation and is moved in the backward direction by a predetermined amount, and when the temporary stop is cancelled and the magnetic tape is moved in the forward direction, the cue signal (51) is reproduced and the recording operation is restarted responsive to the reproduced cue signal. Preferably, after cancellation of the temporary stop until restart of the recording operation, control is made such that coincidence of the frequency and phase of the reproduced pilot signal and those of a pilot signal to be recorded is established.
