The motor is accommodated in the housing and rotatable. The anvil supported by the housing and rotatable about an axis (A). The impact mechanism is configured to convert a rotational force generated by the motor into a rotational impact force about the axis, and to apply the rotational impact force to the anvil. The anvil includes a base portion (), an end bit attachment portion (), and a connecting portion (). The base portion is rotatably supported by the housing. An end bit is attachable to the end bit attachment portion. The end bit attachment portion has a flat surface portion. The connecting portion integrally connects together the base portion and the end bit attachment portion. The connecting portion has a diameter gradually reduced in a direction from the base portion toward the end bit attachment portion. The connecting portion is formed with a recessed portion (A,B,). The connecting portion has an outer peripheral surface portion where the recessed portion is formed. Included are: a first housingaccommodating a load portion that consumes electric power; a second housinghaving one end portion connected to the first housingand another end portion to which a battery packis connectable; and an elastic memberinterposed between the first housing and the second housing. The first housing includes a first restricting portionpositioned away from the elastic member, and the second housing includes a second restricting portionpositioned away from the elastic member and engageable with the first restricting portion. In a case where the second housing is urged to be separated from the first housing, the elastic member is deformed and the first restricting portion and the second restricting portion are engaged with each other to prevent separation.

An impact tool and method can include: a motor; a trigger; a controller configured to control driving power supplied to the motor using a semiconductor switching element according to an operation of the trigger; a striking mechanism configured to drive a tip tool continuously or intermittently by rotation force of the motor, the striking mechanism including a hammer and an anvil. The controller drives the semiconductor switching element at a high duty ratio when the trigger is manipulated. The motor can be driven so that the duty ratio is lowered before a first striking of the hammer on the anvil is performed and the first striking is performed at a low duty ratio lower than the high duty ratio.

An impact tool includes: a motor; a trigger; a controller configured to control driving power supplied to the motor using a semiconductor switching element according to an operation of the trigger; a striking mechanism configured to drive a tip tool continuously or intermittently by rotation force of the motor, the striking mechanism including a hammer and an anvil. The controller drives the semiconductor switching element at a high duty ratio when the trigger is manipulated. The battery pack is configured to be attached to and detached from the housing along a first direction. The guide mechanism is provided at the housing and configured to define the first direction. The plurality of second terminals is configured to be connected to the plurality of first terminals upon attachment of the battery pack to the housing. The pressed portion is configured to be pressed against the battery pack in a second direction intersecting the first direction when the battery pack has been attached to the housing.

A power tool includes a housing, a brushless motor, and a cover member. The housing has an air intake hole and an air exhaust hole formed therein, the housing having an inner surface. The brushless motor has an outer surface disposed in the housing, a first endface near the air intake hole, and a second endface near the air exhaust hole. The cover member covers at least one of the first endface and the second endface for preventing dust from entering the brushless motor. The inner surface of the housing and outer surface of the brushless motor define a circulation path providing communication between the air intake hole and the air exhaust hole.

In order to prevent a battery pack from being overly discharged during use in a power tool, a discharge voltage limit circuit is provided. The circuit disconnects the battery pack from the motor when the voltage of the battery pack falls below a predetermined level. However, the circuit is operable only when the main switch is OFF, that is, when no load is imposed on the motor.

A portable tool includes a motive power section, a mechanical section driven by the motive power section, and an outer frame covering the motive power section and the mechanical section. A label or a sticker is affixed to an outer peripheral surface of the outer frame. The label contains specific pattern or specific color or specific character representing a specific user of the portable tool. The cover is made from a transparent resin and is removably disposed to the outer frame for protectingly covering the label. A sheet containing a plurality of labels having colors or pattern different from each other is provided. A user can select one of the labels.
