A repair method that includes covering a damaged part of a member to be repaired with a repair material, and heating the repair material to a predetermined temperature to form an alloy layer. At least the surface of the member to be repaired is a first metal such as Cu. The repair material includes a second metal such as Sn. By the heating, the surface of the member to be repaired is integrally joined with a layer of an intermetallic compound and an alloy having a melting point higher than a melting point of either of the first metal or the second metal.

The joining material of the present invention is a joining material which contains a first metal powder and a second metal powder having a higher melting point than the first metal powder, in which the first metal powder is formed of Sn or an alloy containing Sn, the second metal powder is formed of a Cu&#x2014;Ni alloy in which a proportion of Ni is 5 wt % or more and 30 wt % or less, a Cu&#x2014;Ni&#x2014;Co alloy in which a total of a proportion of Ni and a proportion of Co is 5 wt % or more and 30 wt % or less, or a Cu&#x2014;Ni&#x2014;Fe alloy in which a total of a proportion of Ni and a proportion of Fe is 5 wt % or more and 30 wt % or less, and a 90% volume grain size D90 of the second metal powder is 0.1 &#x3bc;m or more.

Joining material and method for manufacturing joined body

A heat pipe that includes a pipe casing, a porous wick, and sealing members. Both end portions of the pipe casing are sealed by the sealing members, respectively. The sealing members each comprise a first metal foil and an intermetallic compound phase. The inside of the pipe casing is filled with a working fluid. The porous wick generates capillarity for the working fluid by a plurality of pores. The porous wick is provided inside the pipe casing. As a result, the pipe casing and the porous wick form a cavity extending in a longitudinal direction of the pipe casing. The porous wick comprises first metal grains, second metal grains, and an intermetallic compound phase.

Heat pipe, heat dissipating component, and method for manufacturing heat pipe

A first structural material is bonded to a second structural material with a joining material provided with a mixed layer of a raw-material component for forming an intermetallic compound layer and a resin component that softens and flows during heat treatment interposed therebetween to form bonded structural materials. When the bonded structural materials are heat-treated, the first structural material is joined to the second structural material with an intermetallic compound layer, and the resin component exudes and covers the lateral circumferential (exposed) portion of the intermetallic compound layer with a resin film.
