A technique for making a handle vibration-proof while avoiding size increase is provided in an impact tool. The impact tool has a striking mechanism part for driving a tool bit in its axial direction, a motor for driving the striking mechanism part, a tool body housing the motor and striking mechanism part, an outer shell housing covering part of the tool body, a handle that is integrally formed with the outer shell housing and extends transversely to the axial direction, a first handle end portion formed on one extending end of the handle, a second handle end portion formed on the other extending end of the handle, a first elastic element that connects the first handle end portion and tool body for relative movement in the axial direction, and a second elastic element that connects the second handle end portion and tool body for relative movement in the axial direction.

Striking tool

A technique for improving the vibration-proof effect and usability of a handle is provided in an impact tool. An impact tool is provided which linearly drives a tool bit in an axial direction thereof to cause the tool bit to perform a predetermined hammering operation. The impact tool includes a motor, a striking mechanism part, that is driven by the motor and causes the tool bit to linearly move, a tool body that houses the motor and the striking mechanism part, an outer shell housing that covers at least part of the tool body and is connected to the tool body via a vibration-proofing first elastic element so as to be movable in a direction transverse to the axial direction of the tool bit with respect to the tool body, and a handle which is designed to be held by a user and connected to an opposite side of the outer shell housing from the tool bit via a vibration-proofing second elastic element so as to be movable in the axial direction of the tool bit with respect to the outer shell housing.

An improved power tool is provided which can alert a user of any halfway selection of a driving mode of a tool bit. A representative power tool is provided which is capable of switching among driving modes different in driving state of a tool bit. The power tool has a mode switching member that switches among the driving modes, a detecting part that detects a drive prohibited state in which any of the driving modes of the tool bit is not selected, and indicating parts that indicate a result detected by the detecting part.

Power tool

It is an object of the invention to provide a technique that contributes to rationalization of dust collection, in a dust collecting attachment for use on a power tool. Dust collecting attachmentsare used on a power toolhaving a tool body, a tool bitwhich can be coupled to a front end region of the tool body, and an auxiliary handleattached to the tool body. The dust collecting attachmentsinclude dust collecting members, respectively, which can be attached to the auxiliary handlein such a manner as to surround the front end region of the tool bodyaround a longitudinal axis of the front end region in order to collect dust generated during operation by the power tool, and a connecting hosefor connecting the dust collecting membersto a dust collector.

Dust collecting attachment

A power tool performs a predetermined operation by using a tool bit and has a grip part and a dust suction device. The dust suction device has a dust suction part that extends in an axial direction of the tool bit and sucks and collects dust generated during operation at a tip of the tool bit. The dust suction part can be moved between a first position in which the dust suction part covers a bit tip of the tool bit and a second position in which the bit tip is exposed. The dust suction device further has an operation mode switching mechanism that is capable of switching between a first operation mode in which the dust suction part is allowed to move between the first and second positions and a second operation mode in which the dust suction part is locked in the second position.

A technique for allowing a user to operate an operating member disposed in a front end region of a power tool in the state in which a dust collecting attachment designed to be attached to the front end region of the power tool is left attached to the power tool. The dust collecting attachment is used on a power tool having an operating member for removal and/or bit angle setting of a tool bit coupled to a front end region of a tool body. The dust collecting attachment has a dust collecting member which can be attached to the front end region of the tool body. The dust collecting member has an opening formed in a region which faces the operating member in the state in which the dust collecting member is attached to the tool body, and the operating member can be operated by user's finger through the opening.

Connection of a bit with two balls is enabled while high operability of attachment and detachment of the bit is maintained. A pressing ringis held at the advance position together with an operation sleeveby a guide washerforced by a coil spring. When the rear end of the bit is inserted into a tool holder, the ballsthat are rolled rearward by the contact of the rear end of the bit are pushed in between the pressing ringand the guide washerin order, and the ballscan be retracted from the tool holderin the state where the pressing ringis held at the advance position by the tilt of the guide washer

Chuck mechanism of striking tool

An effective technique for detecting several load conditions different in presence or absence and magnitude of load applied to a tool bit is provided in a hand-held tool. A hand-held toolperforms a predetermined operation while pressing a tool bitmounted in a front end region of a tool bodyagainst a workpiece. A plurality of detecting sensorsof different kinds detect several load conditions different in presence or absence and magnitude of load applied to the tool bit. The hand-held toolincludes at least one of an indicating devicewhich indicates the load conditions based on a result detected by the detecting sensors, and a driving control devicewhich controls driving of the tool bitbased on the detected result.

Hand-held tool

An impact tool includes a vibration-proofing cushioning material connecting a tool body and a handle. The tool further includes a motor-driving manual operating member disposed on the handle, an operation mode switching member disposed on the tool body, and a movable member. When the switching member is switched to first mode in which the tool bit is continuously driven, the movable member moves the manual operating member from an off position and locks it in an on position. When the switching member is switched to second mode in which the tool bit is arbitrarily driven, the movable member releases the lock of the manual operating member. A vibration-proofing elastic member is disposed in the vibration transmitting path and prevents vibration caused in the tool body from being transmitted to the handle in the state in which the manual operating member is locked in the on position by the movable member.

Impact tool

In an upper surface of a crank housing is provided an inlet for grease which is configured to be openable and closable by a cap. A vibration damping mechanism, which includes a counterweight provided with a connecting pin loosely fitted in a connecting hole of an eccentric pin when the cap is attached, is mounted in the cap, whereby the vibration damping mechanism is allowed to be taken in and out of the crank housing through the inlet by attachment and detachment of the cap to and from the inlet.

It is an object of the invention to easily determine a currently-selected operation mode in a power tool which offers several operation modes. A representative electric hammer drillembodying a power tool according to the invention has a controllerfor at least controlling a driving motor. The controllerincludes a switch detecting circuitthat detects the on or off state of each of first and second switcheswhen power is on, a computing/driving sectionthat determines a current operation mode based on results of detection of the switch detecting circuit, and a motor control sectionand a drive circuitthat output a drive control signal to the driving motorwhen the switch in the off state is turned on after the computing/driving sectiondetermines the operation mode.

It is an object of the invention to provide an effective technique for reducing adverse effect of a dust suction device on the operability of a power tool, in the power tool which can suck dust generated during operation. The power tool has a motorand a tool bodythat houses the motor. A tool bitis coupled to a tip end region of the tool body and driven by the motorto perform a predetermined operation. The power tool further includes a dust suction partthrough which dust generated during operation by the tool bitis sucked and which covers at least a tip end of the tool bit, a dust transfer passagethrough which the dust sucked into the dust suction partis transferred and which is partly disposed within the tool body, and a dust discharge portthrough which the dust transferred through the dust transfer passageis discharged to the outside. Further, the dust discharge portis disposed on the opposite side of the motorfrom the tool bit

It is an object of the invention to provide a technique in a power tool having a detachable bit holder for preventing a bit holder from being detached from the tool body even if unexpected external force is exerted on an operating member for lock release. A representative power tool includes a tool body, a single holder mounting portion. The holder mounting portion removably holds a bit holder selected from multiple kinds of bit holders for holding multiple kinds of tool bits in different manners. Each bit holder includes a cylindrical portion, a through hole formed through the cylindrical portion, an engaging member disposed within the through hole, a cylindrical operating member axially movably fitted on the cylindrical portion between a movement prevented position and a movement allowed position. The operating member is moved to the tool body side in order to be switched from the movement prevented position to the movement allowed position so that the holder mounting portion is allowed to be pulled out of the fitting hole.

It is an object of the invention to provide an improvement in ease of operation of a driving mode switching mechanism in a hammer drill. According to the invention, a representative hammer drill includes a driving mode switching mechanism which has an operating part, a first switching member and a second switching member. The operating part can be turned to at least three rotating positions in its circumferential direction, while the operating part can be turned 360&#xb0; on the rotation axis in the both directions. Thus, the user can select the desired driving mode in the shortest turning distance without passing though an unnecessary driving mode position. Therefore, ease of operation in mode change can be enhanced.
