A drive circuit includes an output circuit provided in a display panel to output a gate-on voltage and a gate-off voltage to a plurality of gate lines. The plurality of gate lines include first to sixth gate lines sequentially disposed in a scanning direction. A first transistor is put into an on state to electrically connect the first gate line and the third gate line, a second transistor is put into the on state to electrically connect the second gate line and the fourth gate line, the third transistor is put into the on state to electrically connect the third gate line and the fifth gate line, and the fourth transistor is put into the on state to electrically connect the fourth gate line and the sixth gate line, after the output circuit outputs the gate-on voltage to the first to fourth gate line.

A driving circuit including an output circuit that outputs a signal to a lead line electrically connected to a signal line provided in a display panel; and an output transistor that is provided in the output circuit and connected to an output terminal of the output circuit. An on-resistance value of the output transistor is set according to a resistance value of the lead line electrically connected to the output transistor.

A liquid crystal display includes pixels each having an switching element, drain drivers and gate drivers for operating the switching elements and the pixels, and drain lines and gate lines supplying signals from the drain drivers and the gate drivers to the switching elements being formed on one of a pair of substrates sandwiching a liquid crystal layer. Wiring lines are formed on the one of a pair of substrates for transferring display data signals and a clock signal to the gate drivers.

A liquid crystal display device is provided with a backlight where there is little inconsistency in the temperature in the fluorescent lamps and which can illuminate the liquid crystal panel well even when the structure is thin. In a display device in which each pixel includes a thin film transistor which is turned on in response to a scanning signal from a gate signal line, and an electrode to which a video signal from a drain signal line is supplied through the thin film transistor, the scanning signal allows a voltage level thereof which turns on the thin film transistor to have a valley portion which decreases the voltage level in a midst portion thereof, and the decreased voltage level of the valley portion is set to a value which is equal to or more than a voltage level which turns off the thin film transistor.

Herein disclosed are a liquid crystal display device and a data processing device, which can have their frame portions reduced in area to reduce the size and weight by extracting the terminals of video signals to only one side of a liquid crystal display panel and by arranging a video signal line driving circuit substrate to be connected with the terminals, only at one side of the display panel.

The first and second lamp cables are extracted from a same place of a mold case.
