When a photoreceptor provided in an image forming apparatus is electrified for image formation, the output of a charger starts with a different value from a predetermined value and it is controlled to gradually match up to the predetermined value. It is also controlled in a way to start with a lower value than a predetermined value corresponding to the time a charger suspended its operation and gradually match up to the predetermined time. Such control is carried out by controlling grid voltage which flows into grid electrode disposed between a photoreceptor and wire electrode provided for discharging.

Surface potential control device of photoconductive member

A sheet aligning arrangement adapted to accommodate a plurality of sheets fed into it for aligning, and to feed out the aligned sheets one sheet by one sheet. The arrangement includes a feed roller, a first aligning member movable between a first position defining a sheet aligning reference position and a second position parallel to the first position and defining a sheet transport reference position, a second aligning member located in a position confronting the first aligning member, and pivotable in a direction intersecting at right angles with a sheet transport direction, and a displacing device for displacing the first aligning member to the first position during the alignment to effect aligning together with the second aligning member, and also for displacing the first aligning member to the second position during the re-feeding of the sheets by the feed roller, while pivoting the second aligning member to align the sheets.

Sheet aligning arrangement

A copying apparatus capable of effecting duplex copying and composite copying and including an intermediate tray member for storing a plurality of copy paper sheets each having one copied face and refeeding the stored copy paper sheets one sheet by one sheet and a mounting member for detachably mounting the intermediate tray member on an apparatus housing of the copying apparatus in a direction perpendicular to a transport direction of the copy paper sheets. The intermediate tray member includes a storage portion for storing the copy paper sheets, first and second transport portions for transporting the copy paper sheets to the storage portion at the time of duplex copying and composite copying, respectively and a paper feeding device for feeding the copy paper sheets stored in the storage portion.

Copying apparatus

The present invention relates to a copying machine capable of executing a duplex mode copying and composite mode copying. The copying machine has an intermediate tray for receiving and aligning the copied papers and for re-feeding them to an image formation station. The operation of the intermediate tray is controlled in accordance with the copy mode.

Copying apparatus which forms images plural times on the same copy paper

A scan type anamorphic magnifying apparatus provided with a scanning device for scanning an original document in form of a slit, an image forming device for projecting and forming an image of the scanned document on a photosensitive member, and a device for substantially continuously varying a moving speed of the scanning device relative to a moving speed of the photosensitive member to permit the image of the document to be formed on the photosensitive member in varied magnifications. The apparatus further comprises an anamorphic optical unit movable into and out of a projection optical path leading to the photosensitive member. This optical unit is moved out of the optical path when anamorphic magnification is in a range close to '1' and into the optical path when the magnification is in a range far from '1'.

Scan type anamorphic magnifying apparatus

A toner dispensing device has a toner storage chamber provided in its lower portion with an opening for passing toner therethrough, a roller disposed within the storage chamber close to the opening and rotatable to deliver the toner from the storage chamber outward through the opening, an intermediate toner supply chamber in communication with the storage chamber through the opening and for receiving toner to keep it substantially full, and a feeder provided within the intermediate supply chamber for feeding the toner out of the intermediate supply chamber at a constant rate.

Toner dispensing device

Steady flow of dry toner from the discharge outlet of a toner tank is produced by inducing vortex-like motion of toner within the tank to inhibit toner bridging. A rotating brush associated with the discharge outlet has a rim in grazing contact with an edge of a fixed, inclined plate to establish the toner motion. In a preferred form of toner-supplying device, two discharge outlets are used, each associated with a brush/plate set.
