In order to provide an air conditioner capable of safely discharging drain water outwards, and having good assembly properties and maintenance properties, an electrical equipment boxincluding a control substrate is placed on the side of a first side plateof a base panel, and a drain pump unitis placed adjacent to a second side plate, to treat drain water in a position apart from an electrical system.

In an air conditioner with a front panel projected forward, in order to increase stiffness of a body cabinet and to improve maintainability and appearance, the body cabinet is composed of: a base panel; a top panel; and a front panel, and the front panel is formed only with an air outlet port to be finished into a refined appearance having less seams, and it is adopted as basic configuration to support a front end side of the top panel by a drain pan, and further a front end side of the front panel and the front end side of the top panel are coupled to each other.

In a ceiling recessed type air conditioner including a case body hung from a ceiling slab via hanging bolts and a panel base mounted on the lower face side of the case body, a decorative frame can be selectively installed at different height positions on the side wall of the panel base via an installation position changing device. Thereby, even when the height space in the ceiling in which the case body is installed is limited and a part of the case body projects from the ceiling surface, a front panel portion can be installed with good appearance.

In a ceiling-mounted-in type of air conditioner, the assembling operability is improved with the number of parts of a wind directing plate driving portion being reduced. A motor and a cam gear can be previously assembled and attached in a motor cover in order to reduce the thickness of a front panel, thereby allowing easy placement of a wind directing plate driving device on a front panel 3 only by mounting the motor cover on the front panel.
