A connection terminal includes a terminal connection portion, a wire connection portion and a neck portion. The terminal connection portion has a tubular part surrounded by a first wall, a second wall opposing the first wall and side walls connecting the first wall and second wall. The tubular part accommodates and is electrically connected to a mating terminal. The wire connection portion engages a wire. The neck portion is disposed between the terminal connection portion and the wire connection portion and has a third wall extended from the first wall and standing walls standing on the third wall. The standing walls are extended from the side walls respectively and oppose each other. A distance between the standing walls is decreased according to an extending direction in which the third wall is extended from the first wall. The neck portion is electrically connected to the wire connection portion. An end of the second wall is protruded in the extending direction than connecting parts of the side walls where the standing walls are connected.

A crimp contact device includes a crimping member. The crimping member is configured to crimp a wire, and has a first portion and a second portion which is near to an end of the crimping member than the first portion. A pressure applied to the wire by the second portion is decreased according to a direction from the first portion toward the end of the crimping member.

Crimp contact device with adjusted crimping force

An apparatus is provided that crimps an electrical wire having a water-proof plug onto a connector terminal in a given positional relationship and can be applied to an automatic assembling operation. In the vicinity of upper crimping members and lower crimping members of the apparatus which crimp an electrical wire having a water-proof plug onto the connector terminal, there are provided a water-proof plug positioning member which has a positioning protuberance used for placing a water-proof plug in a given position with respect to the front end of the connector terminal and a terminal positioning member which is vertically movable and engages with a positioning groove of the connector terminal. The front end face of a water-proof plus sealing section is brought into contact with the rear surface of a positioning protuberance, thereby placing the water-proof plug in a predetermined position. The upper surface of the positioning protuberance is formed into a concave circular-arch surface having the same radius as that of a water-proof plug cylindrical portion. The water-proof plug positioning member is provided so as to be able to vertically move while remaining in slidable contact with the rear surface of the lower crimping member.

Method of crimping a terminal onto an electrical wire equipped with a water-proof plug using a positioning means

A method of determining whether a metal terminal including a conductor clamping section for clamping a wire is satisfactorily connected to the wire. First, a first metal terminal including a first conductor clamping section for clamping a first wire thereto is provided. Next, one of a dimensional variation and a ratio of a dimensional change of the first conductor clamping section in an axial direction of the first metal terminal, which are caused by clamping the first conductor clamping section, is calculated. Compressibility comparison data is prepared by calculating, from a section of the first conductor clamping section after clamping the first conductor clamping section, compressibility of the first wire with respect to the first conductor clamping section based on the one of the dimensional variation and the ratio of the dimensional change. After preparing the compressibility comparison data, a second metal terminal including a second conductor clamping section for clamping a second wire is provided, and one of a dimensional variation and a ratio of a dimensional change in distance between marks applied along formation reference positions on the second conductor clamping section is calculated and is compared with the compressibility comparison data, thereby determining whether the second metal terminal is satisfactorily connected to the second wire.

Method of determining a connection state of metal terminal and a wire

A connector comprises a male connector , a female connector to be fitted to this male connector , an elastic latching member , which is provided on an outer periphery of one of the male connector and the female connector and engages with the other connector to retain a fitted state of the connectors and , and a half-fitting prevention member for notifying a half-fitted state by detaching the male connector and the female connector when the connectors and are in a half-fitted state, and for preventing the half-fitted state from being retained. The half-fitting prevention member is placed at a height that is nearly equal to or less than a height of the elastic latching member which projects from an outer peripheral surface , thereabove.

Further, a slider insertion portion and the slider ( ) are provided with tapered surfaces ( C, ) for rotating the slider ( ) by a predetermined angle in accordance with the movement of the slider ( ) in the fitting direction, whereby the slider ( ) can be engaged with the locking piece ( ) with in accordance with the rotation of the slider.

An inserted condition of a terminal in the terminal receiving cavity (,) can be detected. The male and female connectors (,A,,B) are coupled to provide an electrical connector assembly.

An electric connector housing,consisting of a pair of connector housings comprises a receiving chamber,which is formed on an outer face of a rotatable member,fitted to one of connector housings,and radially extending therefrom, and a member,for detecting an engagement of the connector housings which is inserted into the receiving chamber movably back and forth and adapted to engage with the rotatable member,at its one end before a start of the engagement and after the engagement, thereby to stop the rotation of the rotatable member. The other of the connector housings,includes an annular wall,which is bulgingly formed at an outer face thereof in a circumferential direction, and a sliding face,formed on the annular wall so as to face with the rotatable member, the other end of the member for detecting the engagement being abutted against the sliding face at the start of the engagement and sliding along the sliding face during the engagement. With this structure, positioning work of the one connector housing with respect to the other will be reduced, an erroneous excessive rotation of the rotatable member after the engagement will be prevented, and an incompletely engaged state can be easily detected by visual inspection.

Electric connector housing and method for detecting engagement of the same

A provisionally-retaining arm (,), which has a retaining projection (,), and extends in a connector fitting direction, is formed on a connector housing (,). A vertical one side surface (,) of the retaining projection is abutted against a vertical one side surface (,) of an inlet portion (,) of a guide hole (,), thereby provisionally retaining a slider (,) in a completely-locked condition. A vertical retaining surface and a slanting surface, which are directed in a slider releasing direction, are formed on the retaining projection of the auxiliary retaining arm, and a vertical abutment surface is formed on an inner surface of the provisionally-retaining hole.

Double engagement structure of coupling terminal in plug type connector

A method of determining whether a metal terminal including a conductor clamping section for clamping a wire thereto is satisfactorily connected to the wire or not, the method includes steps of: providing a first metal terminal including a first conductor clamping section for clamping a first wire thereto; calculating one of dimensional variation and a rate of a dimensional change of the first conductor clamping section in an axial direction of the first metal terminal are caused before and after clamping the first conductor clamping section; and preparing compressibility comparison data by calculating, from a section of the first conductor clamping section after clamping the first conductor clamping section, compressibility of the first wire with respect to the first conductor clamping section based on the one of the dimensional variation and the rate of the dimensional change. In the method, after preparing the compressibility comparison data, a second metal terminal including a second conductor clamping section for clamping a second wire is provided, and one of dimensional variation and a rate of a dimensional change in distance between marks applied along formation reference positions on the second conductor clamping section is calculated and is compared with the compressibility comparison data, thereby determining whether or not the second metal terminal is satisfactorily connected to the second wire. Furthermore, each width of the marks is made equal to range of dimensional tolerance of each of the bellmouths in the formation thereof. Therefore, whether state of the formation of bellmouths is acceptable or not can be determined by detecting positions of base end portions of the bellmouths.

Metal terminal and wire connector

A connector fitting-detection mechanism which is rigid and simple in structure. In the connector fitting-detection mechanism (1), a fitting detection member (6) having flexible detection arms (7), which are provided with engagement projections (8) at the tip portions thereof, is supported at the rear portion of a female connector (2) so that the fitting detection member (6) is slidable forward and backward. A provisional engagement hole (10) and a primary engagement hole (11) engaging with the engagement projection (8) are provided along the fitting direction at each of the opposite side walls of the female connector (2). A disengagement projection (12) is provided at the front portion of each of the opposite side walls of a male connector (4). At the time of the complete fitting between the female and male connectors (2), (4), each of the projections (12) abuts against the provisionally engaged engagement projection (8) thereby to release the provisional engagement state thereof, so that the engagement projections (8) pass over the provisional engagement holes (10) and primarily engage with the primary engagement holes (11).
