A display device which can ensure sufficient adhesive strength between each pair of substrates of a liquid crystal display panel and a sealing material includes: a first substrate having a predetermined integrated circuit; a second substrate on one surface of the first substrate in an overlapping manner; and an adhesive material between the first substrate and the second substrate that has an annular planar shape. The adhesive material adheres the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein an outer periphery of the adhesive material includes a zone which includes a plurality of first portions passing substantially the same position as an outer periphery of the surface of the first substrate and a plurality of second portions each connected with the two neighboring first portions and having a center portion thereof in a peripheral direction retracted toward an inner peripheral side of the adhesive material.

Display device with sufficient adhesive strength for sealing material

A display device which can ensure a sufficient adhesive strength on an adhering surface between each of a pair of substrates of a liquid crystal display panel and a sealing material is provided. A display device includes: a first substrate on which a predetermined integrated circuit is formed; a second substrate which is arranged on one surface of the first substrate in an overlapping manner; and an adhesive material which is arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate and has an annular planar shape as viewed from the surface of the first substrate, the adhesive material being provided for adhering the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein an outer periphery of the adhesive material as viewed from the surface of the first substrate includes a zone which is constituted of a plurality of first portions passing substantially the same position as an outer periphery of the surface of the first substrate and a plurality of second portions each of which is connected with the two neighboring first portions and has a center portion thereof in a peripheral direction retracted toward an inner peripheral side of the adhesive material as viewed from the surface of the first substrate.

The generation of bubbles in a liquid crystal material of a liquid crystal display panel and the generation of color irregularities when the liquid crystal display panel is pushed can be reduced. In a display device having a liquid crystal display panel in which a liquid crystal material is filled between a first substrate and a second substrate, the second substrate forms, on a surface of an insulation substrate which faces the first substrate, first columnar members, second columnar members and third columnar members which differ from each other in a distance from the surface of the insulation substrate to a top portion of each columnar member. Display device with spacers having different heights and numbers

To prevent inconsistency in images and support columns from collapsing when pressure is applied from outside in the case where liquid crystal is sealed in under negative pressure in order to prevent impact bubbles from being created in the liquid crystal display device in accordance with a liquid crystal dropping and sealing method. The distance between a TFT substrateand a facing substrateis set using first support columns, while second support columnsare located within contact holesand do not make contact with the TFT substrate. When pressure is applied from outside, the second support columnsmake contact with the side wall or the like of the contact holescreated in the TFT substrate, so that the repulsive force of the second support columnsprevents the distance between the TFT substrateand the facing substratefrom becoming too small. As a result, inconsistency in images can be prevented, and the first support columnscan be prevented from collapsing when pressure is applied from outside.

Liquid crystal display device

In a liquid crystal display device including an orientation film and a seal material, at a terminal connection portion where one substrate extends outward from another substrate, a step portion of an organic insulating film is formed on an inner side of the seal material to dispose a step, whereby spreading of the orientation film from the step portion to the seal material is limited. Lead wires that electrically interconnect connection terminals and pixel portions are formed on a portion of the organic insulating film where the film thickness is thin.
