The invntion provides a tonneau cover device. The tonneau cover device includes a tonneau cover installed on the rear portion of the vehicle and a tonneau cover bracket attached to the rear end portion of the tonneau cover, and the tonneau cover bracket extends in the width direction of the vehicle. A columnar portion serving as a rotation axis of the tonneau cover and a handle portion arranged in front of the columnar portion in the front-rear direction of the vehicle and extending downward are included.

A developing device for an image forming apparatus of the present invention includes an image carrier performing endless movement while carrying a developer in the form of a layer thereon, and a regulating member for regulating the thickness of the layer. Toner stored in the developing device is covered with an additive whose particle size is less than 2 &mgr;m. The regulating member is implemented as a doctor roller having a surface roughness Rz equal to or greater than the above particle size, but smaller than 2 &mgr;m. The doctor roller is pressed against a developing roller or developer carrier by a preselected pressure, forming a nip for development. The developing device reduces irregular development ascribable to impurities caught at a regulating position assigned to the doctor roller more than a conventional developing device using a doctor blade as a regulating member. In addition, the developing device obviates irregular development in the form of fine stripes ascribable to stripe-like irregularities formed in the developer layer existing on the developing roller.

Method of synthesizing leukotriene B.sub.4 and derivatives thereof

An image density control method for an image forming apparatus of the type forming a latent image of a document image on a photoconductive element and developing the latent image to form a toner image by an electrophotographic procedure. A background pattern is implemented as a light pattern having a low density and provided independently of a reference density pattern. The light pattern is illuminated to form a latent image thereof on the photoconductive element, and the latent image is developed by a toner. The density of the resultant toner image is sensed by an image density sensor. Such a procedure allows a change in background density ascribable to contamination, increase in background potential and so forth to be detected. The light pattern may be replaced with a leading edge portion of a document if the leading edge portion has a density corresponding to the background density. Then, the latent image of the background pattern will be formed under exactly the same conditions as the latent image of an ordinary image, i.e., without any limitations as to the position of the pattern.

An improved method for synthesizing leukotriene B.sub.4 and derivatives thereof is disclosed, as are novel intermediates used in the process. An improved copy paper separating device for use in a transfer type electrophotographic copying machine is provided. The separating device includes a conductive carrier member, preferably in the form of a conductive endless belt extended between a pair of pulleys. The conductive carrier member is disposed in the periphery of the photosensitive member to which a copy paper is brought into contact for the transfer of a toner image formed on the photosensitive member. The potential of the conductive carrier member is maintained nearly at zero level during the first step of the separating operation; whereas, the potential of the carrier member is increased to a predetermined value of the polarity opposite to that of the toner image during the second step. Information as to the conditions of separating operation is also supplied and the timing of changing potentials is appropriately adjusted. Moreover, a plurality of voltage sources having different potential levels are provided and the potential is selectively applied to the carrier member as required, which is particularly useful when applied to a duplex copying machine.

Transfer medium separating device

A transfer sheet separating/conveying member is formed of an electrically conductive material, and has its part disposed close to or in contact with the peripheral surface of a photosensitive drum for movement in the same direction as the drum. The separating/conveying member is applied with a voltage of the same polarity as that of a voltage applied to the transfer sheet. An insulating material covers at least a portion of the laterally opposite sides of the separating/conveying member which are located opposite to the drum surface. A corner of the separating/conveying member which is not covered by the insulating material and remains exposed is shaped into a rounded form.
