There is provided a combustion plate in which the combustion resonant sounds and instability at the time of high-load combustion can be resolved and in which a large opening ratio of the flame holes can be secured. Flame holes of an equal diameter are formed evenly over an entire surface of a combustion region of a plate main body in such a positional relationship that adjoining three flame holes form an equilateral triangle. Provided that a flame hole group which is made up of six flame holes disposed in a positional relationship to form an equilateral hexagon and one flame hole in the center of the equilateral hexagon is defined as a unit flame hole group when disposed adjacent to another flame hole group across a large equilateral hexagon enclosing the equilateral hexagon, there is formed in the surface of the plate main body a bottomed hole.

A combustion apparatus with an air supply chamber in a lower part partitioned by a partition plate from an arrangement section of a burner unit and a primary air chamber in a front part stands from a front end of the air supply chamber are provided in a combustion housing incorporating the burner unit. Air from a combustion fan connected to an air supply port of the air supply chamber flows to the primary air chamber through the air supply chamber. Primary air is supplied from the primary air chamber to burners of the burner unit. Projected rims extend from the periphery of a portion of the partition plate opposed to the air supply port to a front edge of the partition plate are provided on a lower surface of the partition plate. The height of a downward projection of the projected rims is reduced toward the air supply port.

In an all primary combustion burner, a partition plate that demarcates a mixing chamber between the partition plate and a bottom wall section of a burner main body and a distributing plate that sections a space between the partition plate and the combustion plate into a first distributing chamber and a second distributing chamber are provided in the burner main body to cause a fuel gas and a primary air to flow into the mixing chamber A pressure loss is minimized to make it possible to satisfactorily mix the fuel gas and the primary air. An outlet is formed on a downstream side of the partition plate. A guide plate section that extends to the downstream side while inclining in a normal direction, which approaches the bottom wall section of the burner main body, from an edge on the upstream side of the outlet, is provided in the partition plate.

Provided is a combustion apparatus that can positively prevent a combustible gas present in the vicinity from catching fire in performing prepurge, which involves exhausting air from a combustion chamber provided with a burner, before igniting the burner. The combustion apparatuscontains combustion control meansthat ignites the burner after performing prepurge by use of a fan, and gas detection meansthat is provided between an air supply portand the fanand detects the concentration of a combustible gas. The combustion control meansascertains, before starting the prepurge, whether a combustible gas of a preset maximum concentration or higher is detected by use of the gas detection means(STEP) and prohibits the prepurge by prohibiting the energization of the fanwhen a combustible gas of the maximum concentration or higher has been detected (STEP).
