A vehicle drive device that includes a rotary electric machine, a power transfer mechanism that transfers a rotational drive force between the rotary electric machine and a plurality of wheels, a case that houses at least a part of the power transfer mechanism and the rotary electric machine, and a hydraulic pump.

A differential includes a pinion shaft holder, a differential case, a first side gear, a second side gear, a first spring and a second spring. The differential case includes a first side boss portion and a second side boss portion. The first spring is interposed between the first side boss portion and the first side gear. The second spring is interposed between the second side boss portion and the second side gear. A recessed portion is provided on the pinion shaft holder and is configured to avoid interference with an auxiliary tool. The auxiliary tool maintains one of the first spring and the second spring in the compressed state.

A vehicle oil pump that is driven by a drive gear provided on a rotating shaft that rotates in one direction when a vehicle travels forward and rotates in the opposite direction when the vehicle travel backward includes a first driven gear that is in mesh with the drive gear and provided on a drive shaft of the vehicle oil pump via a first one-way clutch, an idler gear that is in mesh with the drive gear, and a second driven gear that is in mesh with the idler gear and provided on the drive shaft of the vehicle oil pump via a second one-way clutch. The first one-way clutch is configured to transmit rotation of the first driven gear to the drive shaft when the vehicle travels in one direction, from among forward and backward, and the second one-way clutch is configured to transmit rotation of the second driven gear to the drive shaft when the vehicle travels in the other direction, from among forward and backward.

A vehicle power transmission device includes: an input shaft; a planetary gear type speed reducer disposed concentrically to the input shaft to reduce and output rotation input to the input shaft; and a differential gear device disposed adjacently to the input shaft in a shaft center direction, the differential gear device being rotationally driven by the speed reducer to transmit a drive force to a pair of axles disposed on the shaft center while allowing a rotational difference between the axles, the speed reducer including a sun gear that is fit with a shaft end portion of the input shaft in a relatively non-rotatable manner, the sun gear being prevented from relatively moving toward the differential gear device by an annular snap ring fit and attached to an annular snap ring groove formed on an outer circumferential surface of the shaft end portion of the input shaft on the differential gear device side of the sun gear, the differential gear device including a differential case having a cylindrical end portion formed on the sun gear side or a member fixed thereto that is extended to the outer circumferential side of the snap ring, the differential case having a radial distance of an annular gap formed between the cylindrical end portion or the member fixed thereto and the snap ring set smaller than a groove depth of the snap ring groove.

The invention eliminates the need of handling an engine in a process for assembling a torsion damper which couples the engine with a power transmission system and a torque limiter. In a damper unit with a torque limiter positioned between an output shaft of an engine and a power transmission shaft of a power transmission system, the damper unit includes a fly wheel damper, a torsion damper and a torque limiter. The torque limiter of the damper unit is coupled to the torsion damper with a set load applied thereto such that the torque limiter and the torsion damper are combined to form an assembly. The torsion damper and the torque limiter can be assembled by handling, independently of the engine, only components which are smaller and lighter than an engine. This improves the efficiency of the assembling operation of the damper unit with the torque limiter.

A novel drive train includes a motor, a differential gear unit, and a counter gear mechanism for transmitting the power of the motor to the differential gear unit. A universal joint for joining the differential gear unit to an axle shaft of a vehicle is arranged outward of one axial end of the motor to eliminate interference with the motor, and the differential gear unit is arranged adjacent the opposite axial end of the motor, radially overlapping the motor to the maximum, to thereby shorten the axial distance between the motor and the differential gear unit.

A motor vehicle power transmission system whose rotating elements are all stopped upon stopping of the vehicle, and which comprises a lubricating device including an oil sump for storing a lubricating oil and a mechanically operated oil pump which is driven by one of the rotating elements to deliver the pressurized lubricating oil to predetermined lubricating points such as bevel gears of a differential gear device. The lubricating device has a substantially fluid-tight enclosure in which the lubricating points are disposed and which stores, in a substantially fluid-tight manner, a mass of the lubricating oil delivered from the oil pump.

A planetary gear device including a first gear, a second gear, a carrier, and composite planetary gears each having a large- and a small-diameter pinion that are formed integrally with each other and arranged in the axial direction. The composite planetary gears are mounted rotatably on respective pinion shafts such that the composite planetary gears are axially movable over predetermined distances due to axial plays, and the pinion shafts are supported by the carrier such that the pinion shafts are disposed around an axis of the carrier. The pinions of the composite planetary gears mesh with the first and second gears, respectively. Each of the first and second gears and the pinions consists of a helical gear whose teeth have a helix angle with respect to the axis. The large-diameter and small-diameter pinions have the same direction of helix and the same amount of lead.
